Job description
As an Associate Project Engineer - Automation, a typical day might include the following:
1. Applying fundamental concepts, practices and procedures of power system automation.
2. Assist teams that support customers with the design, installation, commissioning and operation of automation and/or protection systems, both on-site and from SEL offices.
3. Complete assigned work using established procedures and working under immediate supervision.
4. Complete assigned work within agreed upon scope, schedule and budget while focusing on quality and safety.
This job might be for you if you:
Have a B.S. in Electrical Engineering or relevant discipline
Are self-motivated with continuous desire to learn and find solutions
Willing to travel both domestically and internationally a minimum of 25% based on focus area.
Have college coursework in electric power and/or controls (power system protection, symmetrical components, programming, control systems)
Have an Engineer in Training (EIT) certificate
Have work experience in electric utilities, industrial plants, communications, computer programming, or construction
Focus Area = Automation: software, integration and automation, industrial controls, PLCs, industry protocols (IEC-61850, DNP, Modbus), Ethernet systems, protocol analyzers, and industry SCADA practices

Pay Range Data
New hires generally start between $60,800 - 95,000. We base our starting pay offer on location and job-related factors such as candidate experience, training, knowledge, and skills.
