Salary range is competitive and will be based on qualifications, experience, and student needs:

  • 260 days - $75,000 - $85,000

The benefits package is comprehensive, with components that are in alignment with the District’s Act 93 Agreement.

Work Hours/Year

Full-time, twelve (12) months, Monday-Friday, some nights and weekends

May occasionally perform work beyond a standard 40-hour week when workload requires

Summary

Under the supervision and direction of the Principal, Director of Curriculum, Instruction, & Assessment, and Superintendent, the Assistant Principal of Elementary Education (PreK-6) is responsible for the academic and operational performance of the district’s elementary schools. The Assistant Principal of Elementary Education (PreK-6) assists with the planning, assessment, instructional leadership, communication, community relations, and safety and administrative management required to manage the instructional and special programs, organization, and facilities of the district’s elementary school (grades PreK-6).

The Assistant Principal of Elementary Education (PreK-6) advances student achievement and demonstrates a commitment to providing a safe, inclusive, and welcoming school environment that recognizes and celebrates the diverse identities and abilities of all members of our school community. Provides leadership and vision to ensure furtherance of the district’s mission, “Promote academic excellence and to enhance the physical, intellectual, socio-emotional, and cultural growth of students for personal success.”

Essential Functions

  • Assist the Principal, Director of Curriculum, Instruction, & Assessment, and Superintendent, and the Board of School Directors in achieving the goals of the School District to foster instructional excellence and in compliance with the requirements of the Pennsylvania Department of Education.
  • Maintain compliance with local, state, and federal regulations as well as the provisions of the district's collective bargaining agreements.
  • Ensure fidelity of Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) to establish a positive student culture and individualized behavior supports necessary to create a safe and effective learning environment for all students.
  • Partner closely with teachers and faculty to identify, analyze, and resolve behavior and academic challenges. This includes ensuring teachers are following classroom management plans.
  • Serve as Acting Principal for the academic and operational performance and responsibilities of the district’s elementary schools in the absence of the Principal.
  • Proactively serve on the school Crisis Team and Threat Assessment Team.
  • Upholds effective discipline and fosters a safe and positive environment for students and staff.
  • Shows evidence of instructional leadership and assists with the delivery of required programs or curricular areas necessary to achieve excellence and continuous improvement consistent with school division goals.
  • Performs a variety of administrative duties in compliance with school division policies and legal requirements required to assist with the management of assigned human, material, and financial resources necessary for school operation.
  • Participates in collaborative development and implementation of school improvement plans; plans, implements, supports, and assesses instructional programs.
  • Participates in the provision of staff development programs consistent with program evaluation results and school instructional improvement plans.
  • Promotes effective communication and interpersonal relations with students, staff, families, and other community members; works collaboratively with staff, families, and community members to secure resources and to support the success of a diverse student population.
  • Models professional, moral, and ethical standards as well as personal integrity in all interactions.
  • Works in a collegial and collaborative manner with other administrators, school personnel, and the community to promote and support the mission and goals of the school division.
  • Participates in professional development activities to enhance student learning and provide service to the profession, the division, and the community.
  • Actively pursue professional development to maintain appropriate licenses and certifications, and in compliance with Act 48 requirements.
  • Respond to emergency situations for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns and/or directing to appropriate personnel for resolution.
  • Demonstrate professionalism and maintain good moral character in aspects that occur in and beyond the classroom/building.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal, Director of Curriculum, Instruction, & Assessment, and Superintendent.

Qualifications

  • Masters degree in education from an accredited college or university required; advanced degree preferred
  • Active Administrator or Elementary Principal certification issued from the Pennsylvania Department of Education required
  • At least three (3) to five (5) years of supervisory or administrative school experience preferred
  • State-mandated renewable background clearances and training for employment in PA public schools

  • Must be able to think creatively, analyze, and solve problems.
  • Must appropriately handle confidential information.

Work Environment

Academic and non-academic settings within typical school district buildings (library, cafeteria, auditorium, gymnasium, athletic facilities, etc.), including classroom environments focused on adaptive learning. Duties may be performed off-site, at related educational venues when representing the district.
