Position Purpose
To assist the CMO in providing professional medical direction to the Health Management Department at Group Health Cooperative of Eau Claire.
Schedule
This part-time or full-time position offers a flexible work schedule and remote work options.
Essential Position Functions
- Provide physician support to the utilization management team in the health management department. Participates in the utilization review of inpatient and outpatient prior authorizations. In collaboration with the manager of utilization management and the CMO, helps to support utilization management policies and procedures and utilization management processes.
- Develop and maintain relationships with providers to improve processes related to utilization management.
- Participate in utilization management meetings with the respective manager and other meetings as determined.
- Participate in department decisions concerning promotion, demotion, transfer, hiring, discipline and termination.
- Work with UM manager and the CMO to provide feedback on the staffing needs for utilization management.
- Assure compliance with company policies, procedures, standards and regulations for utilization management.
- Maintain high employee morale, promote staff enthusiasm and teamwork, minimize turnover, assist employees with concerns and support staff in their job functions.
- Assure utilization management processes are in alignment with the purpose statement and strategic plan of the company.
- Assist with other initiatives as determined by the CMO.
Minimum Requirements of the Position
- Doctorate degree.
- Valid WI state medical license and DEA license.
- Three to five years clinical experience preferred.
- Basic computer and internet skills.
