Assistant to the Director of CYO Athletics
The Diocese of Toledo is searching for a full-time Assistant to the Director of CYO Athletics. The Assistant to the
Director plays a supportive role to the Director to organize, coordinate, and arrange all aspects of the diocesan athletic program (K-12) in the Diocese of Toledo. This faith building ministry serves to invite, welcome, and involve both the youth and adults into the life of the faith community.
Primary responsibilities include:
- Coordinates leagues for seven different sport seasons throughout the year, including scheduling games and events with numerous different playing sites on each date; coordinates the hiring and training of high school and adult licensed officials annually; schedules part-time staff members; and assists the Director in following up on incidents involving coaches, athletes, or spectators.
- Assists the Director in all aspects of managing the Msgr. Jerome E. Schmit CYO Outdoor Athletic
Complex, including staffing, maintenance, marketing, etc.
- Coordinates evening and weekend coaches’ certification program; works with the Director to arrange training of coaches each year, securing and directing logistical set-up of sites, speakers, etc.
- Assists the Director in oversight and support for up to 15 part-time employees and 90 officials in a given season.
- Assists the Director in developing, editing, and updating the coaches’ handbooks/rules, league schedules, and weekly official schedules for each sport season.
- Accurately develops, publishes, and prints the CYO calendar and schedules on-site and off-site facilities for certifications.
- Seeks out to recommend and utilize current innovative technologies and looks for ways to make the department more efficient in terms of communication, social media, electronic interactive forms, and processing, etc. Focuses on continuous improvement.
- Ensures that the department’s website is updated, attractive, and engaging while utilizing in-house social media expertise to reach all stakeholders.
- Prepares timely and accurate accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll processing for the department.
Candidates for the position must possess:
- Bachelor's degree is preferred.
- Must have a high level of skill in the area of time management and project management, scheduling events, and high attention to detail in planning.
- Must consistently demonstrate a positive, friendly, respectful, and caring attitude with colleagues and all one serves in word and deed; projecting a welcoming atmosphere to all who visit the offices.
- Must have the ability to respect, promote, accommodate, and not be in conflict with the mission, moral and social teachings, doctrines and laws of the Roman Catholic faith.
- Ability to lead groups in prayer at meetings.
- Required to have excellent presentation, verbal and written communication skills; some public speaking.
Ability to produce concise reports and make recommendations.
- Must have a collaborative style; proven team player with effective interpersonal skills.

Pay: $40,000.00 - $44,000.00 per year
