SUMMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION: The Assistant Director of Admissions- Events & Student Program is responsible for presenting the University to prospective students in a variety of settings utilizing recruitment and communications techniques that most effectively engage contemporary college students. Manage a robust student ambassador program taking the lead on campus tours, call center, participate in various events and more. This position will manage all on campus events related to the Office of Admissions in addition to virtual events. Partner with university departments on campus utilizing resources to ensure all events are managed and organized in a timely manner and within budget. Follows the University’s best practices to build and/or support student academic success and retention and assist in meeting strategic objectives for persistence and timely graduation of all the student population.

EXAMPLES OF PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop, plan and manage all on campus events working with the Director of Admissions by inviting prospective students and their families from diverse backgrounds into various programs on campus.
  • Evaluate and summarize analytics for event attendance and programing in order to measure event effectiveness.
  • Coordinate with on campus departments utilizing events staffing, catering, CITS, etc to ensure events are detailed and executed according to the Admissions Office needs while following and ensuring UMass Dartmouth standards.
  • Collaborate with Admissions staff to provide students promotional events, outreach to prospective students and heighten program awareness to meeting enrollment goals.
  • Hire, train and manage student ambassador program. Ensure a variety of students representing diversity, programs throughout campus, who are active in clubs and sports, shows professionalism and the ability to promote UMass Dartmouth in a positive manner.
  • Lead multiple projects with the student ambassador program such as initiate and lead a call center, communication such as texting, mail correspondence, and emails. Collect and analyze survey results of visitors on their experience visiting the campus to provide better customer service.
  • Oversee the Welcome Center including: ensure promotional materials are available, campus tour occur on week/weekends, ensure coverage for walk-ins and visitors, and monitor presentation rooms.
  • Work with Admission staff along with the Marketing team to ensure all events and student ambassador related activities are heavily promoted.
  • Review and analyze multiyear demographic and enrollment trend report to plan and implement targeted recruitment on campus activities. Plan, coordinate and debrief to assess the success of recruitment and outreach efforts.
  • Coordinate with the social media group to utilize social networking, technologically based recruitment techniques and other web-oriented modes to engage prospective students in ongoing dialog about the UMass Dartmouth student experience.
  • Utilize technology available within the department/university to track & analyze events, data and student programs as needed.
  • Travel as needed to visit high schools, community colleges, attend college fairs, and host off-campus recruitment programs sponsored by UMass Dartmouth.
  • Assist with the scheduling of travel for Admissions staff.
  • Assist during reading season as needed by evaluating applicant files for decision and merit scholarship awards.
  • Manage projects or programs as related to the position and/or admissions.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION: Bachelor’s Degree

EXPERIENCE: Demonstrated experience (three years) in college or university admissions or other direct student ambassador and or events planning position. Experience with large-scale event organization and ability to independently lead projects from conception to completion.

  • OTHER: The position requires extensive travel throughout the Northeast region of the United States, some of which may involve overnight. Frequent evening and weekend hours are expected to successfully perform the duties of the position. Valid driver’s license and access to personal vehicle is required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Strong understanding of the undergraduate student academic and social cultures.
  • Strong interpersonal, writing, and public speaking skills.
  • Demonstrated record of proficiency in the use of contemporary technological marketing applications including social networking media.
  • Ability to understand and communicate university policies and procedures.
  • Ability to critically read and analyze applications for admission and apply judgement to admissions decisions.
  • Detailed oriented, and excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to work early and late nights in addition to weekends, as well as overnight travel.

  • Previous sales or marketing experience.
