Assembly Supervisor

Purpose:
Responsible for the coordination of resources and activities to ensure that products and goods are produced in a timely and cost efficient manner. Specific activities often include scheduling, staffing recommendations, training, quality and inventory control, and equipment purchase and maintenance. In addition, they also have the responsibility of maintaining consistency and communication between their department and other inter-related departments within the company in order to increase productivity and reduce downtime. Must report to Assembly Manager on recovery dates that are missed and offer suggestions and ideas to keep schedule on time. Must be flexible in their schedule. Is a leader within the department holding employees accountable for business ethics and daily performance.
Position Responsibilities:
- Facilitates and directs team member production in the Assembly department including: assigning work, disseminating information answering questions and resolving issues in a timely manner.
- Communication with Management and peers is positive and productive. Often suggests improvements in support of lean processes
- Ensures that scrap levels do not exceed department goals. Able to take immediate action to determine the cause and develop a corrective action and implement it.
- Ability to manage people in a professional and respectful manner. Creates a positive work environment that employees thrive in. Fully supports management and the company in meeting the established goals.
- Ensure on time delivery to our customers
- Partners with other departments to ensure adherence to the Quality Management system and other compliance requirements
- Displays mastery of reading customer engineering
- Strong computer use skills
- Displays mastery of assembly procedures
- Anticipate and react to production problems or delays, material shortages and equipment malfunctions
- Supervise employees, monitor employee training, approve payroll and conduct disciplinary actions
- Control costs within budget levels, minimizing scrap and rework cost
- Assist is accident investigations and corrective actions
- Collaborates with operations, leaders, purchasing, customer service and others to efficiently meet customer demand.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact and deal with internal and external customers
- Provide visibility to management of potential quality issues, as well as input on internal perceptions associated with Quality and Delivery performance.
- Review applicable organizational policies and procedures, ensuring accuracy and relevance, communicating policy and procedure updates and changes
- Performs other related duties, as required
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Hires and trains front-line employees.
- Organizes, directs, and oversees the schedules and work of front-line employees.
- Provides constructive and timely performance evaluations
- Handles discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy.
- Works with department leaders to monitor each department and make recommendations to improve performance that impacts the organization
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Follows processes and procedures, and audits the department to ensure all employees are also following processes and procedures.
- Understands manufacturing documentation including work orders, blueprints, and customer specifications.
- Ability to inspect all of the products manufactured. Continually looks for way to improve processes to reduce inspection.
- Takes part in training new personnel. Offers suggestions on cost saving measures and improving manufacturing processes.
- Strong assembly aptitude.
- Able to notice small details and address as needed
- Performs other duties and responsibilities from management as needed

Qualifications:
Preferred:
- Bachelor's degree in Business Management, Administration or related field or equivalent work experience preferably in the Aerospace Industry.
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience working in a manufacturing/production environment.
- Minimum of three (3) years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing/production environment.
- Proficiency using MS Office Suite.
