SECTION 1: Job Summary (Summary of the basic functions of the position)
Provides liaison between medical services and business administration for surgery center including
handling of special projects, credentialing and privileging and troubleshooting systems as assigned.
Supervises surgical center staff, including both clinical and administrative functions. Coordinates
compliance program for Medicare including obtaining, recording/reporting essential data, and assisting
in problem solving. Assists clerical staff as possible and appropriate.
SECTION 2: Duties and Responsibilities (Responsibilities necessary to accomplish job functions)
- Works closely with Practice Administrator and Medical Director to ensure comprehensive program delivery and quality patient care in surgery center, including ongoing evaluation and development of processes.
- Manages activities relating to medical staff credentialing and privileging for the Ambulatory Surgery Center.
- Compiles, analyzes and summarizes data and presents recommendations to medical and administrative management.
- Leads monthly DSC staff meetings. Ensures minutes of meetings are recorded.
- Oversees personnel issues for DSC, including performance evaluations, disciplinary actions, and salary reviews. Initiates staffing requests and perform interviews, recommending candidates for hiring. Develops job descriptions for positions within DSC for recommendation to medical director.
- Maintains governance documents and files including those related to committees, quality assurance, etc. for surgery center, following requirements of OSHA, state health agencies, Medicare and other regulatory agencies.
- Maintains patient complaint file log and prepares quarterly patient complaint summary for quality management committee.
- Assist staff with addressing, researching and solving quality management problem issues.
- Participates in Medicare Compliance meetings for the Ambulatory Surgery Center.
- Represents ASC on QI Committee ensuring that requested studies are executed and presented to committee.
- Participates in the HIPAA & OSHA compliance program for the Ambulatory Surgery Center, including maintaining current requirements and developing programs for educating staff.
- Evaluates DSC processes for surgical patient and administrative flow and revise as appropriate to maintain quality, efficient standards.
- Remains up to date on AAAHC, MC, and AORN guidelines and standards and recommends changes in policies and procedures, as needed .
- Focus staff and processes to maintain high level of patient satisfaction, oriented to patient service.
- Adheres to all safety policies and procedures in performing job duties and responsibilities while supporting a culture of high quality and great customer service.
- Acts as the Emergency Response team lead, delegating tasks appropriately, and ensuring all documentation was completed
- Maintains narcotics and emergency equipment & medications in accordance to state and Center’s regulations
- Performs other duties that may be necessary or in the best interest of the organization.
Qualifications
SECTION 3: Experience Requirements
- Three (3)+ years in an ASC supervisory role

- Knowledge of sterile technique and infection control guidelines
- Detail oriented, professional attitude, reliable
- Knowledge of organization policies, procedures, and systems
- Review and edit reports and correspondence
- Knowledge of health care promotion principles and theories
- Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with employees and the public
- Ability to delegate responsibility and authority to staff
- Verbal ability to effectively express ideas and views in gathering and analyzing various data and communicating with physicians, groups, and personnel in coordinating the educational, research, and public relations activities
- Clerical ability is necessary to read reports, publication, articles, brochures and books for use in collecting and preparing information of research activities
- Management and organizational skills to support the leadership of this function
- Ability to follow or provide verbal & written instructions with sufficient grammar and spelling skills to avoid mistakes or misinterpretations
- Interpersonal skills to support customer service, functional, and team mate support needs
- Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing
- Mathematical and/or analytical ability for basic to intermediate problem solving
- Basic to intermediate computer operation
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
- Specialty knowledge of systems relating to job function
- Knowledge of state and federal regulations for this position; general understanding of HIPAA guidelines
SECTION 5: Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Directly supervises employees in the Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC).
- Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
- Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees, planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees, addressing complaints and resolving problems
