*Area Manager, Fabrication*
York, PA
**
*Summary –* The incumbent in this role manages and directs operations departments. The Area Manager ensures safe and efficient delivery of components to internal and external customers. The incumbent leads and directs the work of others, relying on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. The Area Manager is responsible for establishing, maintaining, and enforcing the Operational Department’s goals and objectives commensurate with the Company’s goals, production schedule, production engineering, quality system, collective bargaining agreement and company rules and procedures.

*Responsibilities –*
- Provide leadership for all manufacturing project planning coordinated with production control, engineering, scheduling for maximum shop efficiency and delivery
- Directs and improves all project staffing and cost allocation planning and implementation. Margin improvement for manufacturing projects is a key accountability. Continuous improvement of processes is a top priority goal.
- Responsible for manufacturing budgets including purchases made with input from employees, capital investment and make-buy decisions
- Monitor and complete continuous improvement and/or corrective actions for all departmental performance issues and outcomes; sets department goals that support Manufacturing Operation’s goals
- Coaches performance and development, provides training and resolves problems for both Supervisors and hourly employees; insures good communications plant wide (cross-departmentally and cross-shift)
- Resolves priority differences for production, quality and cost between departments. Completes all communication and information sharing necessary to meet goals
- Establish, maintain and continually improve cooperative and builds active relationships with hourly employees and union officers
- Review, coordinate and administer prepared budgets to ensure compliance with Operation’s goals.
- Conduct timely performance appraisals of individuals.
- Administer company policies and provide for achievement of company objectives and policies including support of the quality system
- Maintain a cooperative and open relationship with all departments to maximize the opportunity for production of a quality product on time at the best possible cost
- Responsible for grievance process

*Qualifications –*
- Bachelor’s degrees preferred, experience in lieu of a degree will be considered
- Previous Fabrication/Welding Experience preferred
- Minimum of 5 years working experience in heavy manufacturing
- Previous management experience in a Union environment
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes in a heavy metal fabrication, construction, and/or project engineering environment
- Able to simultaneously manage multiple projects with a high degree of success

*Physical Demands –*
Employees in this position are regularly required to walk, stand and use hands to finger, handle or feel. They are frequently required to reach with hands and arms. They are often times required to sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Employees are required to talk and hear in an industrial setting (noise level can be high at times) and regularly required to lift 10 pounds and occasionally required to lift up to 50 pounds.
