POSITION SUMMARY:
Organizes, oversees, and conducts classes for the Weatherization Technician Apprenticeship in collaboration with Washington County Community College (WCCC) and the Maine Governor’s energy office.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Knowledge and ability to repair a variety of housing types including but not limited to manufactured housing, single family, duplex and small rental type housing, multi-family, and light commercial type dwellings
- Knowledge of heating systems and various other mechanical electrical plumbing (MEP) systems
- Assist with the recruiting and retention efforts for the weatherization apprenticeship program
- Coordinates with Housing Director, Washington County Community College, homeowners, and other organizations to obtain the contractual a of the apprenticeship with the Governor’s Energy
Office
- Assist the Housing Director in identifying and applying for appropriate available funding sources and programs for types of training and lesson plans for classes, including (but not limited to)
Weatherization, Building Performance Institute Training (BPI), CPR, First Aid training, Lead
Renovation Classes, and OSHA-10
- Knowledge and ability to repair a variety of housing types including but not limited to manufactured housing, single family, duplex and small rental type housing, multi-family, and light commercial type dwellings
- Develop an effect curriculum for the classroom setting and coordinate the participants equipment and PPE weatherization labs
- Perform activities as assigned related to housing initiatives established by Department of Energy
(DOE), Maine Housing, and Building Performance Institute (BPI)
- Coordinate with the Housing Director, WCCC points of contact, and the Governor’s Energy Office for the purpose of completing projects, reporting and various other developments changes
- Work under limited supervision using standardized practices; providing information and/or instructing students as well as operating within a defined budget and available grant funds

GENERAL EXPECTATIONS:
- General knowledge of Weatherization Assistance Program (WAP)
- General knowledge and ability to comprehend, teach and interpret curriculum, rules, regulations, and procedures.
- General knowledge and ability to perform classroom instruction.
- General knowledge and ability to operate basic hand tools and testing equipment.
- Driver’s license and the ability to visit home sites and drive large commercial vehicles with a trailer in tow
- Strong computer and software skills
- Ability to lead weatherization crew members and interface with public

- Work is performed primarily in office settings but includes visits to DCP facilities, client homes, and other various locations to instruct students and inspect projects. Must be able to access and work in confined spaces including but not limited to attic and crawl spaces.
- Noise level is moderate.
- Travel required in Washington and Hancock counties. Occasional travel in Maine, sometimes out of state, may be required to obtain training and certifications.
QUALIFICATIONS NEEDED FOR POSITION:
Experience and Skill Requirements: The following requirements and skills are considered essential:
Education/Skill Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree is preferred, or Associates Degree and 5 years progressively responsible relevant experience or 10 years of relevant experience
- At least 5 years of construction experience
- Prior teaching, supervisory experience, and responsibilities preferred.
- Valid Maine Driver’s License, Vehicle Registration, and proof of car insurance.
- Must be able to pass background checks.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour
