Key Purpose

This position will receive on-the-job training leading to competence over a period of years with the journeyman or master in millwright. The goal of the program is to enable practitioners to gain a license to practice as a Millwright mechanic. Most of their training is done while working on the job (classroom training and reading may be required) with ISS who will help the apprentices learn their trade or profession, in exchange for their continued labor for an agreed period after they have achieved measurable competencies. Apprenticeships typically last 3 years. Employees who successfully complete an apprenticeship reach the journeyman level of competence.

Ideal Candidate Experience
  • Must be able to work required scheduled shift Friday, Saturday, and Sunday 6:00pm to 6:00am
  • Must have an Apprentice License Millwright Certification and at least six (6) months of trade-related work experience, or any similar combination of education and experience
  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent certificate.
  • Must be able to drive to local job site daily
  • Must be available On-call and overtime hours as needed
  • Must understand how things work (facility-related)
  • Must be able to effectively communicate (oral and written) with all employees, contractors, and vendors
  • Self-starter and team player
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multi-functional tasks
Key Accountabilities
  • Work on conveyor systems, motors, material handling equipment
  • Responsible for the daily preparation of the parts and tools for each day’s activities
  • Complete work in a timely and workman like manner
  • Working within CMMs systems and preventive maintenance program
  • Build client confidence in company
  • Participate in company–wide internal meetings as required
  • Provide information to management on training needs and courses of interest
  • Maintain company tools in a professional manner
Physical Demands & Work Environment
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee must be able to stand for long periods of time, walk, reach, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch/crawl and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus
  • Must be able to work under pressure and time deadlines during peak periods
  • While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts; high, unsafe places; fumes/airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions; risk of electrical shock and vibration
  • Occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions
  • The noise level in the work environment is frequently loud
