POSITION DESCRIPTION
Plant Laborer will be tasked with performing multiple plant duties safely and efficiently while maintaining a safety-first attitude. This position requires management resources in adherence with all company standards, policies, and procedures, as well as compliance with all federal and state regulations, including OSHA, TCEQ, etc.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Follow safety rules, regulations, and procedures by MSHA/OSHA and Alleyton policies.
- Safely perform pre-shift and post-shift inspections, complete daily equipment reports/plant inspections, and report unsafe equipment/conditions to the supervisor or foreman.
- Demonstrate the ability to safely and productively operate equipment at all times as assigned.
- Must be able or willing to learn to operate other mobile equipment, including haul trucks, motor graders, water trucks, and loaders.
- Maintain good housekeeping practices on plant and equipment using water hoses and shovels.
- Assist maintenance personnel with plant repairs when needed. Perform preventative maintenance.
- Cross-train on other positions in the plant to serve as a relief to other operators.
- Demonstrates a positive, upbeat attitude and energy level and works as a team player.
- Assist with the upkeep and greasing of all bearings in the plant.
- Performs other related duties as may be assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education and/or Experience: High School Diploma or Equivalent preferred. Prior experience in safe operation of heavy mobile equipment or in the aggregates industry preferred. General maintenance abilities are required. Proficient knowledge of MSHA/OSHA safety requirements.
Computer Skills: Experience with Microsoft Office products and some ability to adapt to other computer software.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
- Must be willing to work overtime and weekends as necessary.
- This position will be considered for night shift roles, if they become available. Evenings and night shifts may be expected.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Most time is spent outdoors in the processing plant. Assignments may require periods of work in all weather conditions, heat, cold, wet or dry. May have exposure to dust, sand, gravel, diesel, exhaust, lubricants, solvents, etc. Work area may have noise levels up to 90 lbs. Work areas require personal protective equipment such as, a hard hat, safety glasses, steel-toed boots, high visibility vest or shirt, and hearing protection.
PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS
While performing the duties of this job, the team member is regularly required to talk and hear. This position requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing. The team member must frequently lift or move items up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift or move items up to 75 pounds. Must be able to climb stairs and ladders frequently. May occasionally deal with heights. Ability to operate hand levers, foot pedals, and steering wheel. Must be able to enter and exit equipment by climbing the 6-step ladder up to 50 times daily. Ability to remain seated in equipment for up to 12 hours daily. Must have hand-eye coordination and vision to operate mobile equipment safely. Ability to read and interpret gauges and use hand tools such as wrenches, screwdrivers, etc. Bending, stooping, climbing, and reaching are all required. You will be required to lift to 50 lbs. and shovel up to 35 lbs. up to 10 hours per day. Must be able to maintain 3 points of contact when applicable safely. Excellent interpersonal skills: establishing and maintaining effective relationships with staff, employees, and managers. Ability to present facts and recommendations effectively in oral and written form. Ability to read, write and do mathematics.
