Bay Aging is seeking a full-time, Adult Day Care Center Medication Aide to deliver the daily services to participants in the Adult Day Break Centers to improve their quality of daily living. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Lead and follow the scheduled activities (3 hours/day)
- Participate in establishing a weekly schedule of daily activities with ADB Center Director and other staff.
- Supervise participants and ensure their safety at all times.
- Keep clients active and engaged in daily activities of living. Encourages independence through participation in crafts, fitness and projects.
- Work in small groups or one-on-one. Chaperone occasional field trips.
- Assist with Adult Day Care Center operations (2 hours/day).
- Perform site setup and clean up duties.
- Prepare 2 meals daily: cook food, set table, serve and assist clients when needed, clean up.
- Assist with transportation of clients to and from the Center when needed by riding in the bus with participants and with loading and unloading as required.
- Provide care (1.5 hours/day)
- Assists clients with all Activities of Daily Living (ADL) as required by individual care plans.
- Records blood pressure and weight.
- Administer client’s medication if trained as medication technician.
- Participates in Adult Day Care Center Administration (1.5h/day).
- Complete care documentation in a timely manner. Maintain clients’ records in accordance with DSS regulations. Comply with all DSS licensing requirements
- Submit complete and accurate timesheet every 2 weeks.
- Provide tour of facility to family members/ caregivers inquiring about the service of the ADB Center.
- Listen and relay families’ concerns and questions to ADB Center Director.
DECISION MAKING
Perform a limited number of routine tasks prescribed by clients’ care plan and ADB schedule. Work under close supervision throughout the day.
KNOWLEDGE
Has knowledge of:
- Adult care practice and procedures.
- Regulations issued by Virginia Department of Health / Office of Licensure and Certification.
- Bay Aging corporate policies and procedures related to Adult Day Break Centers.
Stay current in the knowledge of their profession by completing at least 8 hours of in-service per year.
ABILITIES
- Speak, read and write English fluently.
- Establish and maintain caring relationships with clients and their families even in difficult circumstances.
- Communicate and work effectively with clients suffering from dementia or Alzheimer’s disease.
- Establish professional relationships with co-workers in the ADB Center.
- Be considerate of care recipients and hold their personal information as confidential.
- Ability to stand, bend, stoop, pull, push wheelchairs and lift up to 25lbs.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT
The position is based within Adult Day Break Centers throughout Bay Aging service area and requires regular trips in Bay Aging vans to assist clients. None of the essential functions of the position can be performed virtually.
QUALIFICATIONS
- High School diploma or equivalent,
- License as a Certified Nurse Aide or certificate of training for Nursing Assistant
- Medication Administration Certificate required.
- At least 1 year of experience in the field of elder care or in care giving.
- Must provide proof of current PPD vaccination.
FLSA status: This is a non-exempt position.
