Job Summary:

Performs all aspects of the accounts payable functions according to department policies, procedures and deadlines. Identifies errors or discrepancies and resolves them before processing. Communicates with staff and clients about Accounts Payable matters or issues. Observe confidentiality of client, creditor and company information.

Responsibilities:

• Processing accounts and incoming payments in compliance with financial policies and procedures
• Performing day to day financial transactions, including verifying, classifying, and recording accounts payable data
• Preparing bills, invoices and bank deposits
• Process outgoing payments in compliance with financial policies and procedures
• Perform day to day financial transactions, including verifying, classifying, and recording accounts payable data
• Reconcile the accounts payable ledger to ensure that all bills and payments are accounted for and properly posted.
• Verify and investigate discrepancies, if any, by reconciling vendor accounts and monthly vendor statements
• Facilitate payment of invoices due by sending bill reminders and contacting clients
• Generate reports detailing accounts payables status
• Understand expense accounts and cost centers
• Understands compliance issues around accounts payable processes
• Establishing and maintaining relationships with new and existing vendors
• Comparing purchase orders, prices, terms of payment and other charges
• Processing transactions and performing accounting duties such as account maintenance, recording entries and reconciling books of accounts

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent, Associates degree or higher is preferred
• Must have a minimum of 3-5 years of Accounting experience, with some A/P experience
• Proven working experience with Accounts Payable processing
• Solid understanding of basic bookkeeping and accounting payable principles
• Proven ability to calculate, post and manage accounting figures and financial records
• Data entry skills along with a knack for numbers
• Hands-on experience with spreadsheets and proprietary software
• Proficiency in English and in MS Office
• High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
• Ability to multi-task and prioritize urgent action items
• Experience with Cargowise preferred
• Industry - freight Forwarding / logistics accounting and finance related experience preferred
• Ability to streamline functions and passion to learn and grow
• Strong interpersonal skills
• Comfort dealing with tight schedule and multiple priorities
• Ability to quickly prioritize tasks and identify needed changes to processing order
