Job Summary


The Student Payroll/Banking Technician provides technical accounting services pertinent to the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities Integrated Statewide Records System (ISRS) and the State of Minnesota Statewide Integrated Financial Tools system (SWIFT). This position monitors activities, performs reconciliations, processes accounting operations, generates diagnostic reports, reviews for errors, and initiates corrections. This position directs the operations of the student payroll office at St. Cloud State University, providing the fiscal, technical, analytical, and organizational services necessary for the efficient operation of the student payroll system. This position also develops, implements, and monitors policies and procedures to ensure compliance with federal and state employment, labor, tax, and immigration regulations. Banking areas of focus are transactions (EFT, ACH, and wire activity), credit card banking, campus card operations, and sales tax. This position reconciles and reports on the Blackboard university campus card program.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Basic working knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles
  • Effective communication skills are essential in order to maintain a cooperative relationship with clientele
  • Ability to diplomatically resolve problems and respond to questions
  • Experience with auditing processes, reconciling to balance, and reporting comprehensibly
  • Familiarity with the Minnesota State Integrated Statewide Records System (ISRS)
  • Ability to interpret and apply federal and state regulations in decision making
  • Working knowledge of student payroll and banking systems
  • Expertise in digital software typically utilized in an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system
  • 4 year certificate in accounting/finance or equivalent experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Understand governmental accounting and its terminology
  • Experience with banking, ACH, EFT, and credit card processing
  • Experience with federal and state student employment regulations
  • A thorough technical understanding of the accounting, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and student payroll modules within the Minnesota State Integrated Statewide Records System (ISRS)
  • Knowledge of the Statewide Integrated Financial Tools system (SWIFT) utilized in Minnesota
  • Familiarity with university student campus card systems
