Hopi Tribe Economic Development Corporation (HTEDC) is located off the Hopi reservation, offices are located at the Continental Plaza in Flagstaff, Arizona. The Hopi tribe is the sole shareholder of HTEDC which is a Federally Charted Corporation. HTEDC consists of six diverse establishments that are located in Second Mesa, Sedona, Flagstaff, and Payson. HTEDC continues to cultivate in the economic development for the Hopi Tribe.

The Hopi Tribe Economic Development Corporation (HTEDC) is seeking an Accounting Assistant to join our team at HTEDC Office located in Flagstaff, Arizona. The ideal candidate is friendly and courteous, is capable of working as part of a team and is comfortable dealing with customers.

We are looking for an Accounting Assistant to join our team and provide support to the Accounting Department. The successful candidate will be responsible for a variety of tasks such as data entry, filing, and general office duties. This position requires excellent organizational skills, attention to detail and the ability to work independently. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting principles and be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.

GENERAL PURPOSE

The Accounting Assistant supports and assists the overall Accounting Department with assigned tasks and job duties from the entities of the corporation. Such as creating a seamless accounting system in partnership with each entity by facilitating accurate P/L records, maintaining budget limitations and cash reconciliation is the responsibility. The Accounting Assistant reports to the Senior Accountant.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain a professional, positive attitude with management, co-workers and general public
  • Always provide excellent customer service
  • Maintain a neat and clean professional appearance
  • Provide full cycle accounting
  • Provide support for the General Manager and their assistant for each assigned entity
  • Record and reconcile daily sales numbers
  • Reconcile month-end reporting
  • Reconcile the General Ledger for each entity
  • Reconcile bank accounts
  • Resolve account discrepancies
  • Process and validate incoming payments
  • Follow other duties as assigned by immediate supervisor or CFO

Education and Training

  • Possess a high school diploma or GED
  • Associate Degree in accounting desired

Knowledge and Experience

  • Three or more years of accounting experience

  • Ability to communicate effectively with General Managers
  • Ability to problem solve and rectify associated paperwork
  • Ability to operates and understand accounting software programming
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Ability to meet deadlines consistently
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to understand written and verbal orders
  • Ability to work with a diverse customer base in a positive manner
  • Ability to pass a background check and credit check
  • Demonstrate ability for time management

Working Conditions
