JOB SUMMARY:
Works with supervisor to achieve shipping goals. Responsible for assisting in the safe and efficient operation of the shipping department.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Lead shipping staff to ensure products are properly packaged, staged, stacked, labeled, wrapped, and shipped.
Assist in preparing shipping documents on a daily basis.
Assist in training of staff as directed.
Maintain a safe and clean working environment.
Attend meetings and trainings as required.
Provides backup to other functions as required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
Knowledge of Company policy and procedure related to shipping.
Knowledge of food safety programs, including HACCP programs, SSOP’s and GMP’s.
Skill in using a personal computer and a variety of software programs, including Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
Skill in communicating in a courteous and professional manner, both verbally and in writing.
Ability to work with minimal supervision and lead employees in supervisor’s absence.
Ability to be a good representative of the Company.
Ability to obtain a forklift operator’s license.
Ability to work in cold temperatures.
Ability to multitask and work quickly.
Ability to work overtime or weekends if needed.
Ability to lift up to fifty (50) pounds.
Ability to adhere to company grooming standards.
Ability to wear PPE as designated by company policy.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
High School Diploma or equivalent required. Minimum of two years experience operating a forklift. Previous lead experience preferred.
