Come join HARIBO of America’s first ever North American factory! Located on-site in Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin, the Processing Mechanic will be responsible for maintaining and repairing their assigned area processes and infrastructure equipment.

Reporting to Manager of Production and Process Technology, this role is responsible for assembling, installing, testing, and maintaining process equipment, apparatus’, fixtures, etc. using hand tools, power tools and test equipment. Work with Electrical and Automation Technicians and other employees to maintain the equipment and optimize processes. Perform preventive maintenance, corrective maintenance, and drive equipment improvements. The Processing Mechanic will partner with support functions to identify and resolve unplanned downtime events, quality, safety, cost, and other losses attributed to the area, using problem solving techniques and a continuous improvement mindset.

Responsibilities

• Monitors process equipment for proper operation, makes adjustments and minor repairs to optimize machine performance.
• Inspects equipment and components to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair, and to ensure compliance with codes.
• Observes and diagnoses malfunctioning machines, systems, apparatus, and components, using test equipment and hand tools to locate the cause of a breakdown or operational problem.
• Clean, lubricate, adjust, and repair machinery and equipment.
• Disassembles machinery to inspect for defects and replace compromised components. Reassemble machinery according to manufacturer’s procedures.
• Operates newly repaired equipment to verify the adequacy of repairs. Work with production employees and electrical technicians on re-commissioning procedures.
• Understands and safely works with 3 phase AC power circuits (227-480V), 110V circuits and low voltage systems.
• Study blueprints and manufacturers manuals to determine correct installation and operation of machinery.
• Ability to repair and fabricate components using shop machine tools and applicable welding techniques.
• Repairs damaged components and effectively assesses the needs for replacement.
• Effectively uses a variety of tools and equipment such as power construction equipment, measuring devices, power tools, and testing equipment.

Qualifications

• Must be open to start on an off shift role.
• High school diploma or equivalent required. An AAS degree in robotics, industrial maintenance or technology is a plus.
• Minimum of three (3) years of experience relating to electrical repairs, programmable logic controls, and wiring in an industrial setting.
• Minimum one (1) year of trades training in industrial maintenance or other technical discipline.
• A complete commitment to personal and coworker safety and adherence to rules and procedures is expected.
• Ability to read and understand blueprints, schematic and mechanical drawings.
• Ability to operate a variety of hand and power tools, such as grinders, saws, machine tools, and welding equipment.
• Requires good knowledge of the process equipment and strong mechanical aptitude.
• Requires the ability to work in confined spaces.
• Requires good oral communication skills to effectively deal with coworkers.
• Must be flexible with work scheduling as well as overtime.
• Requires basic mathematical skills to be able to add, subtract, multiply, divide, work with percentages, and have basic knowledge of algebra as well as make fine adjustments in equipment settings.
• Requires teamwork ability; works well with others and communicates effectively with all associates.
• Requires the ability to train and coach others for success.
