Northrop Grumman is seeking an Associate Optical Engineer. This position will be located at our Space Systems Sector in East Hartford, CT.

The qualified candidate will become part of Northrop Grumman’s Adaptive Optics Associates Strategic Business Unit.

As an associate optical engineer, you will support a cross-disciplinary team that develops and evaluates optical technologies for the US government.

Basic Qualifications:

This requisition may be filled at either a level 1 or a level 2. Basic qualifications for a Associate Optical Engineer are a Bachelor’s Degree. Basic qualifications for a Optical Engineer are a Master’s Degree.

A candidate must meet ALL of the below criteria. The candidate must:

• Be completing or has completed their degree (Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD) from an accredited institution
• Be majoring in or having majored in Optical Engineering; or in an allied field (Electrical Engineering, Physics) with a concentration in Optics.
• Have an overall cumulative GPA of 3.0/4.0 or higher (unofficial academic transcripts must be provided at time of application by uploading the documents to your application or profile).
• Be able to obtain a U.S. Government security clearance (U.S. citizenship is a pre-requisite)
• Have hands-on experience in an optics-related lab, including selecting, handling, and aligning optics

Preferred Qualifications:

• Have an overall cumulative GPA of 3.70/4.0 or higher
• Coursework in Optics or Optical Engineering
• Experience with MATLAB, LabVIEW, and lens design software (Zemax, Code V)

Salary Range:

Bachelor's: $77,300 - $115,900

Master's: $93,500 - $140, 300
