Job Title: Finished Product Handler (Winder Operator)

Reports To: Shift Supervisor

Job Purpose: To mechanically wind and palletize finished product rolls

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

• Operates all winder controls.
• Grades the quality of the finished materials.
• Checks the following and communicates with supervision and responsible line personnel concerning quality for the following items: Position of reinforcement

Weight of finished product
Appearance of finished product
Appearance of labels
Proper width of lay line and selvage
Proper width of selvage film

• Communicates with the Impregnator Operator on condition of finished product concerning quality.
• Cross-trains in any position as deemed necessary by supervisors.
• Cleaning of the winder. and the hydraulic pump systems.
• Responsible for machine lace up.
• Reports all mechanical and safety problems with any machine in designated area.
• Opens drain cocks on air lines.
• Checks the oil level in winder lubricators.
• Visually inspects the machine for mechanical problems.
• Makes sure there is nothing on the winder that could fall into the machine.
• Keeps the general area around the winder clean at all times for safety.
• At the end of shift, makes sure the general area is swept.
• Always watches the finished product looper, ensures the rolls are free and not hanging.
• Ensure that the mandrel is clean, there cannot be any build-up.
• Maintains housekeeping in any area assigned.
• The ability to work overtime as required.
• Other duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements

• The ability to lift up to 120 lb. repeatedly. Rolls produced on a shift can be as high as 1500.
• The ability to climb ladders.
• The ability to work in hot and humid environments (up to 115 F).
• May be required to stoop/bend/crouch for brief periods.

Qualifications, Required Skills and Competencies

• Basic math (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division) and counting skills.
• The ability to work in safe and efficient manner.
• Good communication skills.
• Forklift training and certification.

• Needs to be aware of all the hazards of every job and abide by the safety regulations. The same safety equipment is required for you as to whatever job you are doing.

Job Type: Full-time
