Reports to: Supervisor

Job Summary:

The Welder will weld, cut, and braze metal pieces and products by using flame-cutting and hand welding equipment.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Prepare new or used parts for welding.
  • Fabricate simple components using saw, drill, torch, plasma, grinder.
  • Read blueprints, layout and fit components to print.
  • Join parts together per print using MIG welder.
  • Finish welding of parts using MIG welder according to blueprint.
  • Preparation of welds for paint or powder coat.
  • May be required to work in other areas to provide support during absences or shortage of staff.
  • Produce customer ready product with goal of zero defects/returns.
  • Must wear proper safety equipment.

Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years of relative welding experience.
  • Ability to pass a welding certification test.
  • Desire to work in a production environment.
  • Perform basic job-related computer functions.
  • Ability to read a tape measure.
  • Knowledge of basic math (add, subtract, multiply & divide fractions).
  • Demonstrated accuracy and thoroughness, history of monitoring own work to ensure quality.
  • Possesses ability to adapt to changes in the work environment, manage competing demands, frequent change, delays, or unexpected events.
  • Consistently at work and on time, follows instructions, responds to management direction and solicits feedback to improve performance.
  • Actively observes safety and security policies and procedures.
  • Uses equipment and materials properly.
  • Ability to coordinate multiple projects and priorities in a very fast-paced and rapidly changing environment.
  • Ability to work without direct supervision.

Education and Experience:

  • Completion of a formal apprenticeship OR successful completion of an in-company, three-year training program required.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to weld components that are vertical, flat, or overhead.
  • Must have enough manual dexterity and stability as required for precision work.
  • Must be able to see details at close range.
  • 10 to 40 pounds of force frequently, may include pushing, pulling and lifting
  • 40 to 100 pounds of force occasionally with assistance of machinery or others to move objects
  • Ability to stand on concrete for 10+ hours per shift
  • Must be able to traverse facilities and machinery by climbing, balancing, lifting, walking, stooping, and carrying materials.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $17.00 - $25.00 per hour
