JOB TITLE: RN WEEKEND MANAGER
DEPARTMENT: NURSING
REPORTS TO: DIRECTOR OF NURSING

JOB SUMMARY:
The Weekend Supervisor position participates in and oversees the assurance of the provision of resident care services consistent with accepted standards of care and as prescribed by the attending physician. This position also provides direct resident care, and assigns duties to RNs/LVNs and/or Nursing Assistants as appropriate. Monitors and insures quality standards.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES (list specific job duties)
A. Assure resident care according to accepted standards.
B. Observes, assesses and reports resident condition/changes and documents.
C. Administers medication/treatments as prescribed.
D. Receive, transcribe, implement physician’s orders.
E. Implements and evaluates care plans.
F. Identifies/secures equipment supplies
G. Directs/oversees subordinates.
H. Participates in duty assignments.
I. Organizes/coordinates subordinates, job tasks, and time allotments.
J. Oversees/monitors function and activities of subordinate staff.
K. Evaluate staff performance and institutes appropriate action discipline/training.

L. Monitors infection control compliance.
M. Investigates/documents accidents/incidents.
N. At the direction of the Director of Nursing, assists in directing and coordinating the provision of nursing care to residents consistent with standard nursing practices
O. Participates in and contributes to the performance of duties/tasks assigned to the Director of Nursing/Assistant Director of Nursing
P. Assists in assuring the provision of treatments, medications, and nursing services according to the care plan and physician’s instructions
Q. Contributes to the orientation and professional development of the nursing staff
R. May coordinate nursing team meetings
S. May participate in the assessment and evaluation of nursing services and nursing staff.
T. Assists with nursing service quality assessment and assurance functions and activities.
U. Coordinates services with interdisciplinary team.
V. Reports facility reportable incidents and on the job injuries; investigates, follows-up and reports to the director of nursing and administrator
W. Able to perform physical requirements of job, which include the ability to move/carry medical equipment, as well as, lift/move and assist residents.
X. Any other duties as assigned by DON/Administrator.
Y. Responsible to ensure quality customer service provided by staff to residents, visitors and vendors as appropriate.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Current, valid licensure as a RN required
Experience in long-term healthcare preferred.
Management/Supervisory experience required
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Employment Standards:
Education: Must be a graduate of a basic education program in professional nursing.
Experience: A minimum of one year medical/surgical nursing experience in an acute care (hospital) setting or long-term care setting (acute/critical care is preferred).
License/Other: Must possess a current RN license in state(s) of practice. Must have a reliable source of transportation.
Working Conditions:
Works in office areas as well as throughout the facility. Must be able to move about intermittently during working hours including standing, liftin, bending, stooping, twisting, pushing and pulling. Must be able to read, write and speak the English language. Must be able to transfer residents and assist in emergency evacuations. Interacts with residents, family members, staff, visitors, government agencies/personnel, etc., under all conditions/circumstances. Must be able to relate and work with the disabled, ill, elderly, emotionally upset and at times, hostile people within the facility. May be involved in community/civic health matters/projects. May be exposed to infectious waste, diseases, conditions, etc., including exposure to the AIDS and hepatitis B viruses. Must be able to effectively communicate with the management staff, medical staff, nursing staff, and other unit supervisors. Maintains a liaison with residents, their families, support staff, etc. to ensure that the residents’ needs are continually met.
