SUMMARY:

Provides eligible Native Americans with Vocational Rehabilitation (VR) & Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) services, which are consistent with their individual strengths, resources, and abilities so that they may prepare for or engage in gainful employment and or self-sufficiency. Assists in plan development, determines eligibility of VR & TANF customers, and networks with professional colleagues staying current on community resources available to VR & TANF customers.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelor's Degree in Social Services, Counseling or Psychology
• One to two years of experience in Vocational Rehabilitation, Social Work, or Social Science field
• Must have valid Kansas driver's license and be insurable with the Nation's insurance or able to obtain within 90 days of hire
• Must possess in knowledge of federal and state laws, rules and regulations governing Vocational Rehabilitation under AAC54.600-630, Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 as amended, the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 as amended in 1992 and the American with Disabilities Act of 1990
• Must possess knowledge of Vocational Rehabilitation counseling techniques, psychological principals, counseling practices and social and behavioral sciences
• Must possess the ability to learn technical aspects of rehabilitation program service delivery, evaluate aptitudes, skills, interest, and educational situations
• Must possess in knowledge of Prairie Band Potawatomi issues; is familiarity with Native American culture; and the availability of resources from Tribal and community agencies
• Must possess ability to communicate professionally; both orally and in writing a service-orientated approach, sometimes in stressful circumstances
• Ability to maintain high level of confidentiality
• High level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations and documents
• Must possess the ability to operate general office equipment
• Must be available to work the assigned schedule of M-F, 8:00A-4:30P and available as needed to work a flexible schedule to meet the demands of the position, which may include nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime
• Must be reliable, punctual, and dependable to meet the needs of the department and Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation
• Must be willing and able to travel
• Must possess professional work ethics, manner, and appearance
• A record of satisfactory attendance and performance in all prior and current employment
