Full or Part Time Veterinary Assistant

Cary Grove Animal Hospital on Route 14 in Cary, Illinois has an opening for a Full or Part Time Veterinary Assistant for our small animal practice. Minimum 1 year experience working in an animal hospital required.

Veterinary Assistants are expected to have excellent communication skills, be reliable, efficient, maintain a professional appearance, and work in a team setting.

Wage range will depend on skill set and experience. The position we are looking to fill is for helping with outpatient services.

* Interacting with clients and their pets is a large part of the position: Loading them into exam rooms, getting patient histories, educating on wellness services (vaccines, heartworm, etc), explaining treatment plans and estimates, follow up calls to see how patients are doing, and going over medications.

* Technical proficiency desired in, but not limited to: administering subcutaneous injections and fluids, blood draws, IV catheter placement, radiograph positioning, general drug knowledge, knowledge of vaccines and preventative medications, animal restraint, wrapping surgical packs, reading fecal/urine/ear cytologies, and general lab sample preparation. Hospital cleaning is required of all staff.

* We are willing to train the right candidates if they are not proficient in all of the above yet.

Part time hours are under 32 hours/week, full time hours are over 32 hours per week. Hours may include the following times the hospital is open: Mon 8-7, Tues 8-6, Wed 8-7, Thur 8-6, Fri 8-6, Sat 8-1. Some evening and Saturday hours required. Closed Holidays and Sundays.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $15.00 - $19.00 per hour
