Position Summary:

Starshine is looking for motivated, team-oriented, passionate people to join us and to share our vision of creating the most memorable experiences for our clients.

The Venue Attendant must have a flexible schedule. The Venue Attendant will need to be able to work Friday, Saturday, and Sunday and pre-notified weekdays.

The Venue Attendant role entails attending events and assisting with all needs that our venue promises to our clients, representing Starshine with a professional and friendly demeanor to all clients and guests. The Venue Attendant will assist with any side projects for the improvement of the venue.

Beyond our event venue we offer a guest house with access to a beach, palapas and a tiki hut.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Event Day Duties:

• Point of contact and coordinator for all arriving guests.
• Monitoring the client and their guests to guarantee they are following all rules/policies of Starshine.
• Coordinate and direct overnight guests for guest house access.
• Assist with the elevator lift outside if any guests request to use it.
• Have basic knowledge of our AV system, SONOS speakers, and projector/theatre equipment.
• Assist the client with our theatre space and usage of our equipment based on their preferred setup.
• Attend to all needs of the venue during an event including replacing trash, restocking bathrooms, cleaning any messes, restocking soft drinks, resolving any other issue that may arise during an event.
• Monitor the AC/heating unit so it is at an appropriate temperature.
• Do a venue walkthrough once an hour checking on the lighting, cleaning any messes, disposing of any garbage, cleaning any windows/mirrors from smudges, and resolving any general issues that might arise.
• Occasionally checking with the caterers and bartenders to guarantee they are disposing of their waste in the designated trash bins.
• Checking with the caterers before they leave to guarantee they have disposed of all food waste.
• Monitor the beach/lake amenities and redirecting guests if they do not have access
• Monitor the volume of music and request the music to be lowered if needed.
• Introducing self to any on-site vendors and assisting them with any questions relating to the venue and or event.
• Monitoring and instructing Starshine’s setup team for the client’s desired layout prior to venue access hours. Maintain communication with setup team for needed changes and/or breakdown.
• Introducing yourself to Starshine’s police officers upon their arrival and being their main point of contact.
• Taking photos for social media needs
• Bagging, dropping off, and picking up linens from local laundromat.
• Pick up any trash from the courtyard after the ceremony and discard of it.
• Contact the venue director if any problems occur that are beyond your ability to handle.

Post-Event:

• Look through all rooms to guarantee no one has left any personal belongings behind.
• Escort any guests staying overnight to the guest house and beach area.
• Do a final check-in with bartender to guarantee they have cleaned the bar before leaving.
• Communicate important information to venue cleaning staff
• Turn off fire torches before leaving.
• Assisting with removal of centrepieces and linens at the end of the event.
• Venue and Other Duties:
• Stock Bridal and Groom Suite with beer and mimosas.
• Available for morning tour appointments prior to venue access hours.
• Monitor inventory on venue items such as linens, lanterns, furniture, and supplies.
• Assist with periodic venue improvement side projects
• Assist with any Starshine communication (tours, answering phone calls, responding to inquiries) if needed.
• Update the Venue Management software system with notes for clients and/or tours
• Any other duties needed for a successful event at Starshine.

Requirements:

• At least 1 year experience working at an event venue and/or related service position.
• Have a welcoming, friendly demeanor
• Have great attention to detail
• Strong multi-task skills
• High communication skills
• Able to lift and carry at least 30 pounds.
• Ability to speak in Spanish is a plus, but not required

Starshine Texas is a new Houston, TX based Special Events Venue. We are family owned and operated. Our property started as a family retreat and during that time we received numerous requests to rent our property for special events. We officially opened our doors for private events in 2021 and are looking forward to fully launching our beautiful space to guests for their private events. We are unique in that we offer 25 acres of land with an 8 acre lake in the middle of Harris county. We give our guests the beautiful outdoor amenities without having to be away from the accommodations of the city. We allow our guests to envision and execute their ideal event with a space that can accommodate almost anything.
