The Job

Pitney Bowes has had a strong 100+ year culture of innovation. We believe in doing the right thing the right way. Team, Client, Win and Innovate are our four cultural pillars. Our design philosophy reflects our core culture, which was recently recognized by winning the Innovation and Technology award for our client-centric culture. We have also received peer recognition and several awards in the industry for our product design, design system, and accessible design.

Our design process is two parts – discovery (trying to solve the right problem) and delivery (solving the problem right). As an architect, you would be responsible for leading the discovery piece and guiding and coaching the delivery piece based on your past experiences bringing multiple compelling products to market.

You will help lead the discovery of UX vision and strategy across an ecosystem of package shipping, tracking and locker products for enterprises and small businesses (Think: Microsoft 365 instead of just Microsoft Word). This critical role will play a key part in defining, shaping and creating physical and digital solutions by delivering outstanding user-centered designs. Your main goal is to create alignment and maintain product consistency and synergy across the portfolio with the support of our lead designers responsible for product delivery.

You will support and report to a UX Manager and will work with a multi-discipline design team as well as major stakeholders from the business and engineering.

As an architect, you will:

  • Co-own the discovery process with product leadership
  • Maintain expert level knowledge of competitive products & experiences
  • Use Design Thinking approaches and methods as your main toolbox
  • Use the voice of the client and relevant data to influence product choices and outcomes
  • Distill user and business goals, mitigate risks and offer creative approaches to achieving design solutions even in the context of challenging constraints
  • Collaborate with user research on activities like usability studies to understand customer behavior, refine design approaches, and validate solutions

Qualifications

  • Formal product design related education preferred
  • Proven experience with bringing multiple products to market (conception to launch and post-launch optimization)
  • Experience managing multiple products at the same time preferred
  • Experience working with cross-functional stakeholders like product management, engineering, service, support and marketing organizations
  • Comfortable presenting or storytelling big ideas and their business outcomes to executive leadership
  • Experience coaching and mentoring design team members

The Team

The highly respected Experience Design team (XD) team at Pitney Bowes is comprised of talented, high-energy individuals that defines end-to-end digital experiences of web and mobile products and solutions. Our approach to experience design is grounded in Design Thinking and human-centered design principles. We work with cross-functional product teams to build empathy for our users/clients, define, build, validate and iterate design concepts to build compelling products. We continually challenge the status quo and each other to outline and adopt best practices by taking an agile approach to deliver quickly. We define a product branding and unification strategy while adding value to the development of reusable assets and design patterns.

Our team is made up of unique members, each bringing their own skills, interests, and styles of working to the table. Our “secret sauce” is that we not only encourage this, but we celebrate it. As a member of this team, you will get exposure to many different types of people that will inspire, challenge, and surprise you. Additionally, we are very focused on growing and developing all members in their areas of interest. There is no lack of opportunity around here!

We will:

  • Provide the opportunity to grow and develop your career
  • Offer an inclusive environment that encourages diverse perspectives and ideas
  • Deliver challenging and unique opportunities to contribute to the success of a transforming organization
  • Offer comprehensive benefits globally (pbprojectliving.com)
