Upper School EnglishWilbraham & Monson AcademyWHO WE AREWilbraham & Monson Academy is an independent, college-preparatory, coeducational middle and upper school for boarding and day students. Located in Wilbraham, Massachusetts, our student body of 400 students represents more than 30 countries.ACADEMIC PROGRAM RESPONSIBILITIESWilbraham & Monson Academy seeks a full time Upper School English teacher for the 2023-2024 academic year. The position requires the teaching of four sections of upper school English, mostly grade 10 and 11. In addition to classes, faculty are asked to contribute to department meetings and school aligned initiatives as well as provide daily/weekly assignments and associated student feedback and grading on the schools Canvas Learning Management System.AFTERNOON / ATHLETIC / OTHER STUDENT RESPONSIBILITIESAll faculty at Wilbraham & Monson Academy are also expected to participate in our afternoon program for two out of three seasons.All faculty are also teamed with 5-6 students to whom they will serve as an advisor, meeting once per week and being responsible for checking in on their academic and social well being and progress.RESIDENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIESIf living on campus, faculty are asked to provide 1 night a week & 1 weekend a month of dorm supervision.If living off campus, faculty are asked to provide 4 weekends a year of activity duty/supervision.QUALIFICATIONSThe ideal candidate will be an educator with the following qualifications: Minimum of a bachelors degree in English or relevant fieldMinimum of 2-3 years of successful classroom teaching experienceDemonstrated understanding of differentiated teaching and learning approaches Track record of collaboration with colleaguesAthletic coaching experienceABOUT WMAWilbraham & Monson Academy is an independent coeducational school that offers a comprehensive compensation and benefits package featuring generous paid time off, Employer Retirement (403b) Match, Health, Dental and Vision Insurance, along with Short Term and Long Term Disability, Privately insured Paid Family Medical Leave, Tuition Remission and Professional Development.WORKING CONDITIONS / PHYSICAL DEMANDSPhysical demands include dexterity for office machines including but not limited to computers, telephones, electronic calculators, copy machines, and printers.
