The Machinist (Manual) Tool Maker is under the general direction of the Engineer Manager. He or she must ensure quality of the work performed. The ability to use all Machinist Tool Room equipment, read blueprints, make sound decisions and do tasks with little or no supervision.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Machinist (Manual) Tool Maker duties and responsibilities are as follows:
- Complete and repair existing tooling and equipment
- Check tooling board to determine priority jobs
- Manufacture parts, including but not limited to die, die cavity, inserts, push up pin, punches, and strippers, to specifications
- Assist others inside the department by using their knowledge and experience of the job as the situations arise.
- Work with the Engineering department on new designs, Machinist Tooling and Tool Room machine capabilities.
- Read Blue Prints
- Use precision measuring equipment; (EX: micrometers, calipers, thread gages) and mechanics tools.
AUTHORITY RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Machinist (Manual) Tool Maker does not directly supervise any employees. The Machinist (Manual) Tool Maker directly interacts with the supervisors, engineers and other Machinist Tool Room personnel.
QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
The Machinist (Manual) Tool Maker must have a Journeyman’s card or 8 years’ experience in a Machinist Tool Room environment or equivalent. High School degree or GED is required, if the qualification of the Journeyman’s card or 8 years’ experience hasn’t been met
LANGUAGE AND MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
He or she must be able to perform basic skills up to and including High School level.
PHYSICAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES
The Machinist (Manual) Tool Maker must be able to lift up to and including 50 pounds. Be able to work in a manufacturing environment, (ex: noise, equipment, heights). The Machinist (Manual) Tool Maker must be able to adapt to changes to the workload requirements.
STANDARDS OF PERFORMANCE:
The Machinist (Manual) Tool Maker standard of performance is as follows:
- Maintain acceptable attendance record
- Follow Company policies and procedures
- Ensure quality work
- Maintain a clean and safe work area
The Machinist (Manual) Tool Maker will be working primarily indoors. The Machinist (Manual) Tool Maker must be able to occasionally work in elevated work spaces. His or her job duties extend throughout the plant facility, but mainly in the tooling department. He or she must be aware of moving objects and mechanical hazards.
The Machinist (Manual) Tool Maker will frequently encounter mild dust, dirt, fumes, wetness, odors, dirt, heat, cold, humidity, and noise in the production facility. When working, the Machinist (Manual) Tool Maker will note lighting, ventilations, and furnishings are superb, making it a good employment environment.
