The threat assessment manager performs risk and threat assessments on students, staff, and visitors to identify, assess, mitigate, and manage concerning behaviors.Duties and Responsibilities
Receive and respond to reported behavioral concerns that pose a risk to the MSU community.
Perform risk and threat assessments on students, staff, or visitors as needed.
Investigate and intervene as necessary to reduce and/or manage threats.
Collaborates with multi-disciplinary experts to review, identify, and develop specific intervention and prevention strategies.
Collects and organizes information to facilitate communication.
Provides education and training to faculty, staff, and students to identify and report concerning behavior and incidents that may need further intervention.
Serves as UPD’s representative on MSU’s CARE and BIT teams.
Required Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills
Experience in law enforcement, behavioral intervention, threat assessment, or related field; or equivalent experience and education.
Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines, work with complex systems, balance multiple priorities, and ensure a high level of accuracy in work product.
Demonstrated ability to analyze a variety of data, determine validity, draw conclusions, and make recommendations.
Demonstrated effective communication skills for a diverse group of internal and external constituents.
Demonstrated ability to work with users at all levels of experience as a team member and as a self-motivated sole contributor.
Preferred Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills
Demonstrated experience handling highly sensitive and confidential information.
Experience working with college-aged individuals in crisis.
Certified Threat Manager or certificate in threat assessment and management.
Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) certification.

Position Special Requirements/Additional Information
Serves as a Campus Security Authority as defined by the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Public Safety Policy and Crime Statistics.
Hiring will be conditional upon successful completion of an extensive pre-employment background check.
Ability to provide credible testimony in a court of law.
Physical Demands
Significant physical strength which permits the employee to collect, transport and move evidence of up to 25lbs.
