We are seeking an Instrumentation-focused Telemetry Engineer to join our team in Los Angeles County, CA supporting our DOD customers as part of Arcfield’s Mission Maintenance Future Requirements (MMFR) Program.
Arcfield's MMFR provides support services and solutions within the SkyRange Program for ballistic and hypersonic test missions at DoD, NASA, and other agency ranges around the world including broad ocean areas. We deliver mission planning, logistics, network and systems engineering, telemetry, data and voice communications, and cybersecurity support. In this position, you will have the opportunity to work with a team responsible for deploying, maintaining, troubleshooting, and integrating range instrumentation systems to support our Missile Defense Agency (MDA), Army and Navy customers and meet mission objectives.
- Support local and off-site testing operations, including configure, operate, maintain and test computer-based electronic data reduction and telemetry equipment used to acquire, process and display flight-test data both in real-time and post-mission to support flight-testing.
- Perform other technical functions as required, to include system installation, modifications, troubleshooting and corrective actions
- Applies practical knowledge of telemetry engineering to problems encountered in the design and installation of flight test instrumentation e.g., accelerometers, strain gauges, thermocouples, rate gyros, and pressure transducers, pulse-coded modulation (PCM) data acquisition systems, and data reduction hardware (e.g., bit syncs and decoms).
- Responsible for the planning designs and directs the installation, calibration, and operation of ground based and airborne telemetry receiving, recording, and processing systems
- Support various types of flight testing by attending planning meetings, design reviews, and readiness committees
- Works with flight test engineers in analyzing test data for the purpose of ensuring data accuracy and quality.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science degree and 2+ years of directly related experience or 0-2 years with Master's
- Experience that demonstrates knowledge IRIG106 modulation techniques and serial telemetry data formats.
- Experience that demonstrates ability to convert raw flight test data into a format usable by flight-test engineers.
- Experience using standard tools to fabricate cables, install/modify hardware, etc.
- Experience using standard test equipment, including but not limited to voltmeters, spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes, power meters, and bit error rate testers
- Ability to Obtain Secret security clearance, which requires a US citizen
Desired Qualifications
- Experience producing drawings using MS Visio and/or CAD tools such as Autocad™.
- Knowledge or experience with PRST and/or Missile Defense Agency (MDA) test range systems
