About the team and position
Working on the eDiscovery Team at Carvana you will notice that….
We need to be super approachable and always willing to go above and beyond to help Carvana's Litigation Team and the entire Carvana family. It could be as simple as connecting a monitor to as complicated as tuning a flux capacitor to precisely 1.21 gigawatts! We expect smart people who are doers with bright ideas, willing to put their game-face on, take on new challenges, and juggle many assignments at once.
The eDiscovery Technologist performs key functions for Carvana's Litigation Team and the broader Carvana Legal Department. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: supporting data governance initiatives, facilitation and support of litigation hold and eDiscovery requests, querying systems of record, and creating reports from information contained in multiple different databases. The ideal candidate has experience in eDiscovery, litigation holds, and Tableau, and also has a strong analytical aptitude with the ability to investigate, interpret, and clearly communicate findings, solutions, and recommendations to improve operational processes.
What you'll be doing
- Serve as an eDiscovery point-of-contact with internal/external technical teams and Carvana's in-house and outside counsel.
- Design, develop, maintain, and/or improve internal reporting regarding Carvana's litigation portfolio and the performance of its multiple Legal Teams.
- Assist Legal Teams with litigation hold and eDiscovery obligations.
- Work with cross-functional teams to understand business workflows, data systems, and processes related to data discovery.
- Assist in developing eDiscovery, document collection, and legal hold strategies.
- Collaborate in the development, documentation, and enhancement of processes to ensure adherence with legal and regulatory requirements.
- Design, develop, and maintain database information, scripting and other custom tooling for tracking, accessing, and exporting a variety of company information systems.
- Participate in projects related to the adherence of legal and data handling programs.
- Drive data quality through continuous process improvement.
What you should have
- Education and experience typically obtained through completion of a bachelor's degree and prior experience with eDiscovery, Legal Operations or IT/Security in an enterprise environment.
- Minimum 2 years of related experience.
- Experience with discovery technologies such as Relativity, IPRO, Everlaw or similar.
- Experience exporting data from database systems such as Microsoft SQL, Snowflake, Databricks, BigQuery, etc.
- Knowledge of litigation discovery process and the EDRM workflow.
- Working design experience with Tableau reporting or similar.
- Experience with litigation holds and eDiscovery and data governance best practices
- Experience with information classification and handling requirements.
- Must be well organized, self-directed, strong attention to detail, proactive, willing to learn, as well as a team player and data driven environment.
- Ability to create and document processes and procedures.
- Excellent communication skills, to translate between IT and Legal themes and jargon.
It would be great if you also had
- Ability to translate legal complaints, requests, requirements, into actionable discovery action items.Prior experience in an organization that had a data governance or enterprise risk department.
- Database programming experience
- Experience with front end application development
- Background in Technology Consulting or Advisory
