MAJOR FUNCTION:

Core competencies will be assessed primarily on the following patient population(s) served: Patients with acute or chronic renal failure or chronic renal disease. Provides direct patient care for hemodialysis patients. Prepares and monitors the hemodialyzer and the hemodialysis machine and performs the required quality control checks. Responsible for the initiation, monitoring, and termination of dialysis treatments in accordance with the clinic's policies and procedures. Responsible for the delivery of patient care under the direct supervision of a professional RN and participate in educational projects, in-services, fairs and preparation for regulatory compliance.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education & Experience:
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
  • Graduate of an approve patient care tech program required.
  • One-year related experience and/or training, hemodialysis experience preferred.
  • 1 year experience preferred in Acute dialysis.

Certification/Licensure:
  • CCHT required.
  • Must have and maintain a valid CPR certification from the American Heart Association

Knowledge & Skills:
  • Knowledge of Microsoft word, excel and Soarian or Cerner and HII computer systems.
  • Familiar with restocking, rinsing and disinfecting portable dialysis machines needed.
  • Must be available for flexible work hours to accommodate patient needs.
