CERTIFICATED TEACHER JOB DESCRIPTION

River Islands Academies is Charter Management Organization that oversees four Public Charter Schools: River Islands Technology Academy, STEAM Academy, EPIC Academy and River Islands High School. We opened in August of 2013 in Lathrop, California. Our motto is “College Bound.” It is our intent, and the expectation of the community, that we provide an outstanding, effective, high quality educational program where every student is known and valued as an individual.

Teachers will be:

• Resilient, proactive, and eager to thrive in a fast-paced entrepreneurial, collaborative environment
• Organized and capable of creating a rigorous and respectful learning environment
• Comfortable with using student achievement data to guide classroom instruction, with the expectation of continual improvement
• Willing to commit to grow professionally and use technology daily as an instructional tool
• Eager to have parent and community involvement in their classroom
• Capable of enriching the lives of our students by sharing with them a special talent or skill

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Creates and maintains an effective learning environment for students
• Establishes a culture of high expectations
• Engages and supports all students in learning by providing for a variety of ability levels, and educational/linguistic backgrounds
• Effectively plans lessons and learning experiences that align with the California Common Core Standards
• Identifies unique student needs and collaborates with team members and outside service providers to address and support learning challenges
• Develops as a professional educator by actively participating in staff development activities, and working closely with the principal and educational consultants
• Communicates effectively, and regularly, with students and parents about classroom activities and student progress
• Maintains accurate, thorough records of student attendance, achievement and behavioral performance
• Assesses students for learning in accordance with school and state requirements
• Maintains a standard of professional behavior and dress as an example to students
• Supports and abides by schools policies and procedures
• Collaborates with staff team members to improve their own and others’ instructional practices
• Performs other school related duties as required and assigned

Special Requirements:

• Valid California driver’s license
• Maintain school-insurable driving record

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $60,000.00 - $127,000.00 per year
