The Childrens Guild is seeking an experienced Art Teacher. The Art Teacher will contribute to students' assessment and emotional development as they learn an appreciation of and develop skills in art.

Skills/Responsibilities:
I. Instruction:
This task is successfully completed when:
a. integrated, the thematic curriculum provided for all students which are
congruent with the ASPIRE components of the primary school
curriculum
b. lesson plans prepared daily and weekly
c. current curriculum is expanded and adapted to meet students' needs
d. a minimum of three instructional methodologies for urban students
can be executed at satisfactory levels
e. classroom management meets the need of the student and the group
f. ordering of art materials for school year and summer program is
ordered
g. organize and prepare materials for art activities are organized
and prepared
h. maintain bulletin boards in the entrance hall
i. execute graphic projects throughout the school year as needed (MANSEF,
etc.)
II. Teamwork
This task is successfully completed when:
a. team tasks are delineated and effectively carried out
b. external support for unique students situations is sought
c. the team embraces the holistic delivery of services
d. effective communication with other team members is carried out
e. Parent and significant others are involved as a partner in the
student's educational program
III. Documentation
This task is successfully completed when:
a. documentation related to regular, licensing, and funding bodies is
finished in a thorough and timely manner
b. agency-related documentation, such as team meeting minutes,
progress summaries, IEPs, report cards, behavior observations, high risk
and abuse reports, correspondence, etc. is completed in a thorough and
timely manner
IV. Professional development
This task is successfully completed when:
a. a mentor is selected and utilized
b. the personal staff development plan is executed
c. certification and continuing education requirements are met
Expectations for the position:
I. Demonstrated understanding of the philosophy and mission of The Children's Guild
II. Minimum Expectations
a. participation in re-enforcement activities such as specials, clubs, etc.
b. regular attendance adhering to 8:00 to 4:00 hour working schedule
c. participation on committees as needed
III. Mandatory reading on relevant topics as assigned
IV. Successful completion of the Pre-service Training Program
Successful completion and demonstrated competency with the prescribed behavior management program.
Academic Preparation and/or Experience:
Certification in Art Education, B.S. Degree. A minimum of one year experience in art and one year experience teaching special education.
