Job Summary
Milwaukee Public Schools is actively recruiting experienced candidates for the Talent Management Specialist position. Candidate must read, write, and speak Spanish fluently.
Talent Management Specialists are responsible for recruiting individuals and developing effective hiring practices that attract a qualified and diverse workforce committed to serving the students of the district. Specialists ensure compliance with licensure and civil service requirements for candidates, facilitate large district wide hiring processes, and support a region of schools and/or specific departments in the recruitment and hiring process.
Salary range: $73,777 - $106,351 (12-month)

Qualifications
- A master’s degree in education OR a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
- Five to eight years of experience as a teacher or other certificated employee in a K-12 setting and at least one year of experience as an administrator in a school system OR significant experience in a high-volume Human Resources department with experience in recruiting, compliance practices, and major initiative facilitation.
- Experience in a large, urban district is preferred.
- A combination of education and experience may be substituted.

Responsibilities
- Recruits and hires qualified and diversified staff.
- Collaborates with other Human Resources personnel and district staff to develop and implement a recruitment plan for Milwaukee Public Schools (MPS). Attends recruitment events, both locally and nationally, to meet specific staffing needs of MPS.
- Utilizes the Talent Acquisition Management module of the district's HRMS to create and post open positions to the district's application website, screen applicants, process selected candidates, and generate hiring paperwork.
- Tracks open positions and applicant status on a shareable database and generates reports as requested.
- Facilitates the candidate screening process including credential and experience verification, civil service exams, background checks, and fitness-for-duty exams.
- Utilizes an understanding and awareness of the aspects of position management including budget codes, payroll calendars, position numbers, and job classification to ensure employees are correctly designated in the district’s HRMS.
- Collaborates with the New Educator Institute staff to support employee orientation and induction programs. .
- Administers and coordinates employee assignments and reassignments in accordance with district provisions.
- Hires appropriate staff for summer school programs.
- Maintains relationships with central service departments regarding staffing and other personnel issues.
- Responds to concerns of principals and other staff related to staffing issues.
- Participates in inter- and intra-departmental staff meetings and conferences on matters relating to the recruitment and hiring process.
- Serves on committees and special task forces to gather and/or provide information relative to staffing across the district.
- Collaborates with alternative certification program and university personnel to address teacher shortage areas and coordinate the hiring and placement of interns and permit teachers in vacancies.
- Develops HR tracking methods which enable management to collect consistent information about the employee population and to develop strategic initiatives to remain relevant to the overall business strategy.
- Keeps abreast of developments in the profession by reading pertinent literature and publications and by attending professional meetings, workshops, conferences, etc.
- Actively supports the MPS Strategic Plan.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
