Summer Camp Counselor

Roots Vacation Camps is hiring summer camp counselors for both our Westfield and East Longmeadow locations! This is not just another summer job, but an opportunity to join a growing company and make a positive impact in the lives of children. Roots Vacation camps are traditional day camps with an emphasis on physical activity and sports. Camp utilizes state-of-the-art gymnastics, aquatics, and athletic facilities in Westfield and East Longmeadow. Work alongside your friends in a fast-moving upbeat environment with a focus on forming positive relationships with our youth!

Job Duties:

● Supervise children, promote learning opportunities, and lead camp activities including swimming with the campers daily.

● Role model acceptable behaviors and decision-making for participants and peers.
● Maintain positive relationships with campers by showing sensitivity to campers’ emotional needs and problem solving any camper issues effectively.

● Actively participate in all related in-services, trainings, and staff meetings.
● Establish good rapport with families of campers at drop-off and pick-up.

Qualifications:

● At least 16 years of age. At least 18 years of age for Senior Camp Counselor
● First Aid/CPR/AED certifications or willing to obtain within 60 days of hire.
● Demonstrated ability to conduct complex, critical problem solving independently.
● Knowledge of and ability to learn appropriate child development techniques.
● Desire to work with children and help them develop physically, mentally, and emotionally.
● Demonstrated track record of timeliness and punctuality.
● Must Attend Staff training sessions leading up to the start of Camp.

Job Type: Full Time Seasonal

Pay: $15.00-$16.00 /hr

• Childcare: 1 year (Preferred)

License/Certification:

• First Aid Certification (Preferred)
