Job description
The Subject Matter Expert for DevMountain will provide guidance and industry knowledge via group lectures to live students as they progress through specialization courses.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
The primary activities of a SME are:
Answer Student Questions
As students progress through specialization course content and exercises, SMEs provide engaging and highly-customized lectures to help students understand the core principles of their specialization .
Curriculum Review
SMEs should be familiar with existing content so that they can answer students’ questions during the live lectures.
Curriculum Design Consulting
As the education team is designing new programs or modules, the Subject Matter Expert can participate in discussions regarding the direction and overall approach to the project.
Secondary Activities
Networking
Consulting within their network to obtain a greater understanding of industry best practices.
Required Job Skills:

Dependable attendance and punctuality

Excellent verbal communication skills, including the ability to efficiently and correctly explain technical concepts to people with little/no experience.

Ability to break down complex concepts into smaller, more digestible components.

Ability to discern topics that are most critical for students to be able to obtain employment in a given subject matter.

Self-awareness, openness to daily feedback, and willingness to grow/change in response to student and organizational needs.

Ability to access information using a computer.

Effective communication skills, both up and down the management chain.

Strong mental acuity.
Required Work Experience:
-
Minimum 1-year experience working in a role directly related to the subject matter.

Ideally, 2-3 years experience working in the subject matter.
Preferred Experience:
-
Experience teaching teens/adults.
-
Experience presenting technical talks, workshops, or tutorials at conferences, meetups, or schools.
-
Tutoring, mentorship, or management experience.
-
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution or equivalent educational experience.
Other:

Eligible for work from home.

No travel required to perform this job.

Hours required are flexible, between 2-18 hours per week depending on SME availability.
