Position Summary
Student Honors Associates (SHAs) are dedicated and responsible student members of the Honors College who assist the Dean of the Honors College, Assistant Dean of Honors, and the Administrative Coordinator with day-to-day operations of the Honors College. SHAs create a friendly environment in Nunemaker by welcoming guests and responding to their needs.
The purpose of the Diversity Coordinator role is to promote and increase diversity education in the Honors community through meaningful partnerships in the broader Westminster community, to be an intermediary between honors students and the Honors Council, and to assist in implementation of the Honors College Diversity Strategic Plan.

Primary Responsibilities

Responsibility
Diversity Coordinator Responsibilities

Description
1. Develop a working knowledge of events and programs in the Student Diversity and Inclusion Center, and promote involvement in these opportunities among Honors students.
2. Promote diversity and inclusion opportunities within the Honors community via appropriate communication methods (e.g. email account, flyers, visits to classes or Tuesday Conversations).
3. Connect Honors Students with existing student groups doing DEI work.
4. Partner with faculty, Legacy Scholars, McNair Scholars, and other groups in conversations about diversity and inclusion.
5. Organize and promote Honors student participation in the YWCA Young Women’s Leadership Summit in the Spring.
6. Lead efforts to recognize and celebrate diversity in the Honors community.
7. Partner with Student Honors Council in providing relevant programming for the Honors community.
8. Complete all administrative duties relevant to these responsibilities (scheduling, coordinating, communicating, etc.)

Student Honors Associate Responsibilities

Description
1. Create a welcoming environment in Nunemaker by greeting visitors, discovering their needs, and directing them to the appropriate resource.
2. Answer the desk phone in a professional manner and take messages when needed.
3. Sort mail promptly and appropriately, making sure outgoing mail is picked up by mail room staff.
4. Ensure that the building is clean and orderly by filling candy bowls, picking up trash, straightening kitchen area, and executing other tidying tasks throughout Nunemaker on a daily basis.
5. Assist with the set-up and clean-up for events taking place in Nunemaker.
6. Unlock/lock door, turn on/off lights, and adjust heating/cooling at appropriate times.
7. Communicate with maintenance and IS when needed.
8. Function as a source of knowledge about the Honors College by sharing personal Honors experience with prospective students and guests, and by using appropriate language and messaging.
9. Promote Honors College and Student Honors Council events through posters and social media.
10. Communicate relevant information to co-workers and supervisor via email.
11. Complete hiring paperwork, training modules required by Student Employment, and time by stated deadlines.
12. Fulfill other duties as assigned by the Dean of the Honors College, Assistant, Dean of Honors, Honors Administrative Coordinator, or Lead Student Honors Associate.
