We are seeking a Stress Engineer for our Battery Manufacturing Department. The Stress Engineer is directly responsible to utilize their skills in Finite Element Analysis to predict stress/strain distribution In battery module or packs. This person will work closely with design, electrical and manufacturing engineers to ensure that our products meet our customer’s structural requirements. This is an exciting opportunity to work directly with diverse markets looking to add battery power to their portfolio.
Responsibilities:
  • Conduct Finite Element Analysis for battery modules and packs using tools like Altair Optistruct, Midas, Ansys, etc.
  • Conduct hands-on or theoretical calculations for simplified version of the problems In order to estimate stresses, load paths etc.
  • Work hand-in-hand with the design engineering team and provide recommendations to improve design based on analysis results
  • Analyze and recommend different types of structural joints depending on problems
  • Work together with manufacturing to produce or troubleshoot high quality structural joints
  • Present analysis both internally and externally to customers
  • Support design of the battery modules and packs based on principles of dynamics and vibration

Qualifications:
  • MS degree in mechanical, aerospace, or related engineering discipline
  • 2 years of job experience performing static stress analysis
  • 2 years of random vibration and fatigue analysis
  • Experience In conducting crash or any other explicit analysis for automotive environment
  • Experience with one or more FEA software packages such as Altair Optistruct, Ansys etc.
  • Good knowledge of behavior of materials such as metals and plastics
  • Must be self-motivated and have strong organizational skills
  • Must be able to work well with others and have strong oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work extended hours and weekends as needed
  • Travel to customers’ sites as needed
Preferred Qualifications
  • PhD degree In mechanical, aerospace or automotive engineering
  • Minimum 6 months of experience In engineering design, analysis, or testing
  • Experience in Finite Element Analysis with tool like Abaqus or Ansys or Altair Is a must
  • Strong expertise (academic or Industrial) In vibration analysis, non-linear dynamics Is critical
  • Knowledgeble with castings, stampings, injection molded plastics
  • Experience with various joining methods including but not limited to: welding, adhesive bonding, bolted joints
  • Experience presenting results to both internal and external audiences
Candidates must have current U.S. work authorization or be TN eligible from Mexico or Canada. This position is not eligible for CPT or OPT.
