Overview:
Sealaska Remediation Solutions (SRS), LLC is seeking a part-time Staff Geographer/Cartographer to support our growing federal and commercial environmental business operations. SRS is an Alaskan Native Corporation and a participant in good standing within the Small Business Administration’s, 8(a) Business Development program. SRS is currently experiencing rapid growth providing environmental remediation, monitoring and consulting, technology integration and deployment, and construction management services to a variety of governmental and commercial clients at job sites located around the world.

The successful candidate will have strong geographical information system (GIS) skills to support projects in coastal, inland and near shore environments. We are looking for a candidate with applied technical skills, potential field team-participation, and technical execution on these types of diverse projects. The responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to the collection and analysis of geographic data on projects to ensure scientific rigor and regulatory sufficiency as part of a larger project team.

This federal partnership role requires a US Citizenship and will be a telecommuting (virtual) role.
Responsibilities:
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Use GIS tools and te4chniques to conduct spatial analysis and develop map products to contribute to technical reports of findings and presentations for the Government and the Public.
  • Work as a lab/field technician when assigned.
  • Serve a key role in aspects of field research, data collection, inventory, and analysis.
  • Assist with development of resource management recommendations and assess project effects on resources.
  • Collaborate in an integrated team with engineers, scientists, planners, regulators, and other key project stakeholders
  • Draft graphics for technical reports of findings, deliverables and other project documentation, and present information to the Government.
  • Assist project managers with planning for projects, including development of the project task scope and organization, estimates of effort and other required resources, and schedules necessary to complete the project. Assist in creation of estimate of cost and budget for projects.
  • Assist with development of technical proposals.
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Six or more years of work experience working with GIS at the bachelor’s degree level or two years of work experience at the master’s degree level.
  • Proficient in MS Office and ESRI ARC GIS programs.
  • Experienced with global positioning systems.
  • Familiar with drone technologies.
  • The successful candidate will possess work experience collaborating with Program Managers, clients and teaming partners and a successful track record in developing and completing projects.
  • Strong history working with State and Federal Clients including the US Army Corp of Engineers, Department of Defense and/or the Environmental Protection Agency.
  • Due to the nature of this work, U.S. citizenship is required
