The Lead Product Manager will play a key role in the operation and support of the GSI Insurance Products platforms (e.g. Majesco, GuideWire, Duck Creek). The role will report to the Head of Business Solutions of MRAS and be a key technology support partner to the business application owners. This role is responsible for ensuring products are maintained to deliver high quality results based on industry and Munich Re standard solutions, aligned to risk and compliance requirements, to cover the financial and insurance operational capabilities of GSI.
The Lead Product Manager will be part of a cross-functional agile team that is geographically distributed to deliver high-quality digital solutions across a broad range of innovation initiatives, while championing high quality and consistent delivery practices.
- Responsible for the product management of all GSI Underwriting, Billing and Claims applications
- Drive end-to-end Digital business platform services and technical delivery leveraging Munich Re’s Insurance stack which includes Underwriting, Claims, Billing, Data Warehouse and Integrations modules
- Lead Design and Delivery of onboarding new LOB’s or/and enhancements to existing LOB’s on the Platform leveraging compliant enterprise frameworks and solutions
- Lead the buildout of a scalable and extensible Business API ecosystem leveraging Munich Re’s insurance stack
- Provide Technical leadership on delivery for strategic projects effectively meet the business needs during design, development and implementation phases
- Lead product operations ensuring the platform services are meeting established SLA commitments ensuring continuous improvement and risk mitigation
- Support Regulatory Responses including management of all supervisory requests, oversight of artifact repository and tracking of internal actions and deadlines
- Support Product Delivery Governance including but not limited to the strategic planning and content review for the senior management
- Assists in the development of guidelines and recommends best practices to mitigate defects and ensure code quality
- Establish and maintain strong relationships and communicate effectively with LOBs Leaders, IT Leads, Technical Leads, Sr Architects, and development engineers
- Establish and manage Product delivery KPI’s for tracking delivery and Operational metrics
- Ensures the stable run of the applications, including setup and management of run, support, incident and monitoring processes aligned with the needs of the business, escalates and manages solutions for major incidents working with operations team
- Oversee the support of GSI products applications including fixing of defects and enhancements
- Undertake oversight of our application management services (AMS) partner on small changes and supporting end users in case of handling requests or helping with errors
- Undertake regular operational review meetings with AMS partner and vendors/providers including business stakeholders where required. Ensure review documentation is centrally held and actions from meetings are resolved in a timely manner
- Maintain accurate and current information on applications, interfaces, servers, run roles and responsibilities etc. in central Munich Re repositories
- Drive well planned, on time delivery of Product rollout commitments & SLA’s
- Lead high quality delivery outcomes that meet enterprise architecture standards, are cost effective, highly reliable and meet non-functional requirements
- Lead the engineering and delivery staff, working to achieve technical excellence
- Mentor Junior developers on architectural and security standards
- Develop agile ways of thinking and working
- Expert communications to all levels of the team, from junior forums to executive leadership team. This will include presentations and reports, often highly detailed, but easy to understand and convincing
- Closely working with the PM, Program Management, Delivery Management to effectively manage Delivery plans & RAIDs
- Manage the financials for the product team operation
- Supporting management for Steer Co, Business Management Co, Team Meetings
- Manage internal and external supplier engagements
- Actively identifies development needs with all team members and provides feedback into their development plans
- Acts as an advocate for the team and monitors any performance issues within the team providing appropriate feedback
Your profile
- Graduate degree Computer Science or Information Systems or related field
- 10+ years or more of experience with P&C insurance transformation
- 5+ years professional background in product management and applications delivery in the Insurance industry
- 3+ Years or more of experience with establishing cloud enabled Business API’s (preferably on AWS, Azure, GCP)
- 3+ years of Line Management of teams
- 3+ years managing high complexity P&C programs implementing Policy Admin Suite ( Majesco, Guidewire, DuckCreek)
- Good knowledge of IT SDLC and application management
- Proven experience owning business and partner/vendor relationships
- Effectively communicates, both verbally and in writing to various audiences
- Strong communication and influencing skills when working with a range of internal and external stakeholders
- Collaborative working style, creating a culture of accountability and sharing
- Ability to function as a member of a technology team, willing to contribute in any capacity required to achieve success
- Proven track record of leadership and managing through influence
- Adaptive interpersonal, communicative and consultative skills to function across all levels, communicating with C-office, vendors, peers, clients, and IT management
- Ability to travel as needed
