Alliant Energy has an exciting opportunity for a
Sr. Claims Representative to join us in
Madison, WI or Dubuque, IA! In this role you will be responsible for the investigation, evaluation, negotiation and settlement of self-insured first party and third-party claims, to work with and coordinate insured claims with the company's insurers

This position currently offers a blend of working from home and in the Madison, WI or Dubuque, IA office. The individual can reside in either Iowa or Wisconsin.

Job Responsibilities
- Administer, investigate, and settle self-insured property and liability claims, to include recovery of company damages from third parties.
- Coordinate insured claims with applicable insurers, to include reporting, documentation, and final settlement.
- Assists legal staff and outside counsel as the need arises in handling litigated claims.
- Proactively identify, review, and manage claims and loss control issues with the business units and management. Advises management on the proper handling and impact of claims.
- Maintains database for claims files.
- Assist with budgeting, benchmarking, and corporate reporting obligations to ensure appropriate reports are prepared for reserve, accounting, and other reporting requirements.
- Act as backup to other claims and workers’ compensation personnel. May provide direction, mentoring and training to less experience staff
- Maintain liaison contacts with insurance, industry, and government organizations.

- 5 years of experience in property/casualty claims processing
- Must possess a valid driver’s license
- Bachelors with an emphasis in insurance, risk management, economics, finance, or related area.
- Knowledge of tort and contract law, investigation techniques and insurance coverage.
- Possess effective negotiation, interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Ability to use computer software programs (i.e., e-mail, spreadsheets, database, and word processing and Risk Management Information Systems).
- Ability to create and work in a diverse environment and demonstrated leadership in supporting the implementation of diversity initiative and building accountability in all aspects of the business.
- Ability to work in a diverse work environment.
