Job Description

Under general supervision from the Child Support Supervisor provides child support and customer services to the general public. In addition serves as a lead worker.



Required Qualifications

Completion of a secondary education. Associates degree in court systems or related discipline. One year working at a Child Support Enforcement Agency as a Child Support Specialist, or equivalent combinations of training and/or experience.

Description of Job Duty

Serves as senior Child Support Specialist by providing technical assistance to Child Support Specialist; to determine appropriate courses of action for establishment, enforcement review and adjustment and fiscal procedures.
Assist in training of new workers assigned to a unit.
Review court hearing logs and bring to the attention of Child Support Supervisor if coverage is needed for court hearings. Assist Child Support Specialist in preparation of court hearings, mistake of fact hearings and custody change hearings.
Assist in review of referrals to Assistant Prosecuting Attorneys prepared by Child Support Specialist and assures investigation and documentation are complete.
Provide assistance to Child Support Specialist when help is required to work a case.
Perform child support services, which include absent parent location, paternity and support orders and review and adjustment of established support orders, and fiscal duties and adjustments.
Explain court procedures, the legal process, child support polices and procedures, and the status and priority of individual cases to clients.
Prepare information for presentation in court and/or administrative hearing, and appear at the hearing on the behalf of the Agency.
Complete and calculate repayment agreements when the client has received child support improperly.
Verify delinquencies and apply appropriate enforcement techniques to resolve. Contact delinquent payor by letter telephone, or personal interview.
