Th e Senior Analyst/Gas Purchases & Transportation is responsible for soliciting offers for long and short-term gas supplies and transportation service, evaluating offers, selecting the most competitive offers for negotiation, and negotiating ga s purchas e an d transportation contract s an d amendments.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES- Survey natural gas markets and online natural gas trading applications and compare gas purchase opportunities to locate daily and monthly gas purchasing opportunities
- Negotiate daily and monthly gas purchase transactions that help to ensure that Southwest Gas purchases gas supplies at the best-cost considering price, minimization of short-term price volatility, and reliability
- Conduct solicitation programs that identify the best-cost gas supplies available to meet the Company’s greater than one month gas purchase requirements
- Work closely with department management and Legal Department representatives in developing contract language and provisions that accurately reflect the negotiations and intent of the parties
- Initiate and maintain contacts with producers, gas suppliers, and pipeline companies to gain information concerning available gas supplies and pipeline capacity
- Coordinate and work with other departments (i.e. Gas Resources Planning) to help accomplish the Company’s gas purchase objectives
- Coordinate the nomination of gas supplies on upstream interstate pipelines
- Ensure that gas purchase information is timely entered into the Gas Transaction System so that all relevant reports for Gas Scheduling and Contract Audit accurately reflect the provisions of the gas supply or transportation agreement
- Establish and maintain close business relationships with natural gas suppliers, pipelines, and independent producers so as to stay abreast of rapidly changing gas market conditions
- Develop responses to data requests from FERC, state commission, and intervenors
- Assist in the preparation of exhibits necessary for completing filings with the FERC or state commissions
- Perform related duties and responsibilities as assigned
- Regular and predictable attendance is a condition of employment and is an essential function of the job

$80,791 - $121,187
