Norton & Associates, a staffing agency, is currently looking to hire a 1st Grade and 8th Grade Special Education Teacher for a school located in the Bridgewater, MA area. The Special Educator is responsible forproviding specially designed instruction to students with disabilities in both general education and separate settings. The Special Educator will work collaboratively with general education, special education, and related services staff to ensure that students with disabilities have positive educational outcomes.

**Please note that we are a temporary staffing agency so there are no benefits and length of assignment can be confirmed with the district before employment, but likely will be until the end of the 2022-2023 school year with possibility for the district to hire temp to perm! School can choose to discontinue working with our staff at any time.

Pay Rate $55/hr

Schedule:

Monday-Friday

8:00am-4pm

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assess students’ skills and determine their educational needs
  • Adapt general lessons to meet students’ needs
  • Develop Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for each student
  • Plan activities that are specific to each student’s abilities
  • Teach and mentor students as a class, in small groups, and one-on-one
  • Implement IEPs, assess students’ performance, and track their progress
  • Update IEPs throughout the school year to reflect students’ progress and goals
  • Discuss students’ progress with parents, other teachers, counselors, and administrators
  • Supervise and mentor teacher assistants who work with students with disabilities
  • Prepare and help students transition from grade to grade and from school to life outside of school

Requirements:

  • DESE Special Education License grades k-8 is required
  • Ability to build good relationships with children, parents, Teachers and Social Workers
  • Ability to work well with children from different backgrounds who have different abilities
  • Well-organized and self-driven to devise and adopt new techniques for teaching and keeping the class orderly
  • Ability to manage the classroom despite challenging behavior
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Compassionate, kind and patient with kids
  • Excellent leader and mentor for students
  • Strong attention to detail and an inquisitive mind to understand each individual student

Job Type: Temporary

Pay: $55.00 per hour

Schedule:

  • Monday to Friday
  • No nights
  • No weekends

License/Certification:

  • Special Education Certification in Grades K-8 (Required)
