Job description
JOB SUMMARY: The SPEC Clinician Moderator is well versed and experienced in physical examination techniques. Responsibilities of the successful candidate will include supervising and providing instruction to the first and second year osteopathic medical students.
CHARACTERISTIC JOB TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The following are a list of Academic Exercises that may be required as a member of the Per Diem Faculty from time to time:
- Provide instruction to first and second year medical students on the performance of physical exam techniques;
- Evaluate and provide feedback to first and second year medical students in simulated patient office visits;
- Supervise labs providing basic instruction in various clinical and procedural skills;
- Attend various CE faculty meetings to ensure general knowledge is keep up-to-date;
- Be available to work during the assigned hours; and
- Accept other duties needed / assigned to ensure the efficient and effective functionality of the Institution.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS: Must possess required knowledge and be able to explain and demonstrate, with or without reasonable accommodations, that the essential functions of the job can be performed.
- Compliance with State and Federal Regulations and Safety Protocols, at the clinic level;
- Knowledge of student and patient’s privacy (i.e. FERPA, HIPAA…etc.);
- Follow proper OSHA and safety guidelines; Protect equipment (office, medical, facility);
- Strong communications skills are essential as well as computer literacy (i.e. Word, PowerPoint and email);
- Excellent organizational skills;
- Must be accurate and attentive to detail;
- Must have great skills in diagnosis and treatment planning in general osteopathic medicine;
- Maintaining an established work schedule;
- Effectively using interpersonal and communications skills, including tact and diplomacy;
- Effectively using organizational and planning skills, including attention to detail and follow-through;
- Assessing and prioritizing multiple tasks, projects, and demands;
- Maintaining confidentiality of work related information and materials;
- Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships;
- Be able to be flexible to accept other duties needed/assigned for the Institution’s needs;
- The ability to work cooperatively and collegially with others, consistent with a workplace of dignity and respect and EEO rules and regulations;
- The ability to report to work as scheduled, ready to devote full attention and energy to the important work of LECOM; and
- The ability to accept work directives from managers and supervisors in a respectful and cooperative manner.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Education and experience equivalent to: D.O., M.D., Nurse Practitioner, or Physician Assistant with clinical teaching experience in academia of two to five (2-5) years’ or more preferred.
