Our Software Engineer can be located in either SE WI/Milwaukee area or Northern IL, and they can work remotely from the comfort of their own home! The Software Engineer is responsible for contributing to the analysis, design, development and maintenance of technical solutions that deliver business value. This position also analyzes and troubleshoots issues at the application or system level, recommends and implements solutions to resolve complex problems.
RESPONSIBILITY LEVEL:
Implements strategies to achieve the goals for the organization and information systems technology solutions. Implements, revises, and sustains policies, procedures and programs. Typically works on projects and initiatives that span 3 - 12 months.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES:
1. Project and Change Management: Effectively plans and manages own work to reliably complete routine job responsibilities and special assignments. May serve as a team member or subject matter expert on formal projects or within the department. Effectively engages in change affecting her/him, communicating appropriately with supervisor. Follows through on learning, skill building, and practice necessary to adapt to change.
2. Problem Solving: Light supervision; works independently. Periodic review of work by manager or senior coworker. Solves problems of moderate to advanced complexity; able to identify root cause, interpret data and resolve issues.
3. Technical Skill: Understands and applies professional principles and skills within area of specialization to modify processes to resolve situations.
4. Community Engagement: Champions Goodwill's community engagement initiatives and serves as an ambassador for Goodwill in the wider community.
5. Ensure consistency and the appropriate level of reusability through the design of both technical and software based solutions
6. Effectively analyze and troubleshoot issues at the application or system level and recommends and implement solutions to resolve complex problems
7. Maintain awareness of emerging technologies and trends benefiting the advancement of innovative software solutions by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.
8. Uses industry best practices and standardization to ensure safety and security in the management and administration of confidential information.
9. Collaborates closely peers on the development of technical requirements and management of project delivery.
10. Responsible for completing other duties/responsibilities as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS:
1. Two years' of college education or experience equivalency, and a minimum of 3 years' experience.
2. Awareness of a variety of programming languages, including C#, VB.NET, JavaScript and jQuery.
3. Understanding of Microsoft SQL Server and relational database practices.
4. Understanding of ASP.NET Web Forms and MVC platforms.
