Job description
Blazerworks is currently seeking a dedicated and skilled Sign Language Interpreter (SLI) for the upcoming school year in Huntsville, AL. The SLI will provide communication support to students in an elementary school setting.
Job Responsibilities:
- Provide sign language interpretation services to students with hearing impairments
- Facilitate effective communication between students, teachers, and other school staff
- Interpret classroom instruction, discussions, and other educational activities in sign language
- Assist students in understanding and expressing themselves using sign language
- Collaborate with teachers and other professionals to ensure the student's educational needs are met
- Maintain accurate records of interpretation sessions and related documentation
Requirements:
- Certification as a Sign Language Interpreter (SLI) or equivalent qualification
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and familiarity with different sign language systems
- Experience working as a sign language interpreter in an educational setting (preferred)
- Knowledge of educational practices and terminology
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with students, teachers, and other professionals
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
