Job Description
Position Summary
Under the direct supervision of the Thrift Shop Manager, assist with maintaining the overall direction and results of the WRC Thrift Shop operation. Provides managerial support and participates in day-to- day operations.
Position Status, Classification and Schedule
This position is a full-time, salaried position. Work schedules will vary depending on store hours and days of operation.

- Previous experience in a retail environment with strong customer service skills.

Physical Requirements
Routinely walks, stands, pushes, pulls, bends, kneels, reaches, twists and turns throughout the shift.
Medium lifting (20-50 pounds of force) with occasional heavy lifting (exerting 50-100 pounds of force).
Summary of Primary Duties and Responsibilities
This position functions as part of a team. Areas of responsibility may fluctuate or change; other duties may be assigned depending on the needs of the agency. Specific duties shall include:
- Oversee and coordinate with store manager all areas of the retail store operations, maintaining friendly, clean, attractive, efficient, fully stocked, profitable store.
- Open and close the store on scheduled workdays including making sure store is secured at closing.
- Ensure daily operations of store run smoothly.
- In coordination with the Thrift Shop Manager: o Supervise and provide consistent leadership and training to the Thrift Shop Sales
Associates, volunteers and community service workers. o Sort, price and display merchandise. o Respond to customer and donor questions and acknowledge donor contributions. o Operate the cash register as needed and prepare daily deposits. o Accept and record client vouchers. o Advocate for clients as needed. o Maintain accurate donor and volunteer records.
- In the absence of the Thrift Shop Manager hear and act on all customer complaints and refer them to the Executive Director when needed.
- Maintain professional relationships with community agencies.
- Possess an automobile, comprehensive insurance and a valid Michigan driver’s license.
- Assist staff with project needs.
- Ensure quality control standards, accurate pricing strategies and merchandise rotation is being maintained.
- Ensure that all policies and best practices are being maintained to ensure consistency and an effective operation.
- Comply with the Women’s Resource Center policies, including those related to professionalism and confidentiality.
- Maintain and enhance job-related skills.
- Participate in appropriate meetings, committees, and projects to benefit clients and the organization as directed by the store manager.
- Complete other duties as assigned.
Education/Experience
Associates degree and/or a high school diploma with at least three years of experience in a retail setting.
