Role Summary Oversee all of the shipping function, and supervise all of the outbound products to ensure timely delivery to the customer. Key Relationships All vendors, customers, and team members related to Burris Logistics Supervisory Responsibilities Supervise all shipping team members and provides guidance to any others working within area of responsibility Key Responsibilities Responsible for ensuring all outbound product (on dock and live loads in yard) is “customer ready”, at proper product temperature, and results are documented in WMS ensuring quality of products is never compromised Ensure trucks are loaded properly and safely Ensure all pallets are tagged and recorded appropriately Must ensure the accurate location of product and protection of the same is adhered to by all employees Help control the OSHA Incident Rate (OIR) and Lost Time Incident Rate (LTI) by monitoring sanitation, safe working conditions, ensuring safety policies are followed, holding pre-shift meetings and proper usage of material handling equipment Monitor/audit daily for GMP, COOL procedures (Country of Origin Labeling), HAACP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point) and other food safety guidelines Complete and file error and exception walk through template, pre-shift assignment and update template and equipment condition checklists Ensure Emergency Contact list for team members and building conditions are up to date Understand the Emergency Procedures, ensure they are accessible and participate in update reviews Check computerized time/attendance on a daily basis to verify team members have the proper time clock punches in the system Ensure all team member forms for Time Adjustment, PTO requests, etc. are coordinated for staffing purposes and turned into HR timely for processing in the correct pay period Review PreCap reports (Order Fulfillment Verification) to ensure adequate product to fill orders Account for any inventory losses/product shrink Review and take action based on daily and weekly APT and Utilization reports to ensure acceptable levels of performance are maintained Works closely with Operations Manager to maximize employee performance and improve employee/management relations Ensures all paperwork (logs, driver bills, operational documents) are completed and turned in on a daily and weekly basis as required Collect/analyze data to identify opportunities for improvement and solutions Understand budget requirements, and identify opportunities for cost control to include controlling wage expenses through shift scheduling and reduction of overtime Certified to operate and train all team members on required MHE Participate in the hiring process to include interviews, selection, etc. Responsible for department onboarding, retention and training Provides performance reviews for team members Provides input to manager regarding promotions and terminations Creating an environment of accountability for individual and team performance through analyzing and communicating metrics Crosstrain in all shipping team positions to stay current on duties, training and reaching minimum productivity levels Education/Experience High school diploma or GED. College coursework, continuing technical education or comparable business experience preferred Warehouse experience preferred Supervisory experience in a warehouse environment preferred Experience operating Material Handling Equipment preferred Skills amp; Qualifications Ability to remain calm and focused while prioritizing requests from multiple sources Ability to maintain and ensure confidentiality of team member and company information Ability to apply strong math skills that result in identification of opportunities and justify action plan recommendations Ability to provide clear and constructive feedback, coaching, and counseling Accuracy and attention to detail Able to read, write, speak and understand English Ability to read and understand label data Ability to read small print on packaging and paperwork, with or without corrective lenses Ability to utilize good hand-eye coordination and depth perception to operate forklift, reach truck, and HiLo safely and accurately Ability to take directions using the headset selection system (such as VoCollect) Ability to work at elevated heights while wearing PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) for the job (such as fall protection harnesses) Ability to accommodate flexible schedules to meet the needs of the customer to include nights, weekends and holidays Ability to utilize equipment for the job safely and accurately after training (such as computer, handheld tracker, copiers, scanners, printers, radio headsets, forklift, reach truck, etc.) Physical Demands Independently lift up to 50 lbs frequently and 100 lbs occasionally Able to sit, stand, walk bend, squat on a frequent to continual basis in a refrigerated warehouse environment Able to grasp, reach, push or pull (such as boxes of product, or a hand truck) on a frequent basis Able to step up onto and down from equipment as required by task (such as forklift, reach truck, etc.) Ability to reach above shoulder level frequently Ability to build pallets up to 6 feet tall with case weights up to 50 pounds Endurance for continuous, fast paced work Able to adjust to fluctuating temperatures and withstand freezing temperatures as low as -20 degrees Fahrenheit Ability to work in a noisy warehouse environment Able to wear and communicate through headsets for long periods of time as required by location Able to work while wearing appropriate PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) for the job (such as steel-toed protective footwear, harness, safety glasses, hard hat, gloves, insulated clothing, etc) Ability to handle and physically be near products which may contain food allergens (such as fish, shellfish, peanuts, etc.)
