PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:

The CMC Shift supervisor provides front line management and leadership to Crew Dispatchers and ensures that all related operational needs (inputs and outputs) are safely and effectively realized.


POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Accountable for ensuring that all Crew Dispatchers are working safely, efficiently and effectively as per plan in order to meet operational requirements;
  • Accountable to ensure that Crew Dispatchers are provided with the necessary bulletins and documentation, as required;
  • Accountable to ensure that daily job briefings are conducted with Crew Dispatchers and that manpower availability, operating conditions and job requirements are effectively communicated with staff;
  • Accountable to ensure that all manpower availability reports are reviewed and deemed accurate before releasing on behalf of the Crew Management Center;
  • Accountable to ensure that Personal Leave Thresholds are maintained on a terminal by terminal basis in accordance with established criteria;
  • Accountable to perform all required CMC staff productivity measurements and audits;
  • Accountable to ensure that all CMC/CMA troubleshooting requirements are addressed in a timely manner;
  • Accountable to ensure that all Crew Dispatcher staffing requirements are realized and vacancies filled during off hours (e.g. weekends and evenings);
  • Accountable for ensuring that all MTOD rules violations, operational issues, delays, etc. are properly reported and addressed, where necessary;
  • Authority to assign work and overtime required in order to meet business commitments;
  • Accountable to ensure that all CMA/VRU outages are reported;
  • Accountable to ensure that Personal Leave Thresholds are maintained on a terminal by terminal basis in accordance with established criteria; advise Field when exceptions occur;
  • Accountable for creating new profiles, decisions tables of new train run and assignments;
  • Accountable to ensure that any systemic CMA related malfunctions/problems are identified and reported.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • University Degree or equivalent industry knowledge;
  • 2 years railway operations experience;
  • Preference given to candidates with strong Knowledge of Corporate operating systems/applications e.g. CMA, Crew Balancer;
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills;
  • Strong leadership skills – ability to engage and direct immediate reports and unionized staff as well as influence stratum 3, 4 leaders;
  • Required to work shift work (24/7 364 days per year).
